https://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/westminster-bridge-blocked-by-bizarre-yellow-vest-protest-a4017751.html A woman recording the protest told police officers to let her knock on Number 10's door so she could "speak to treasonous Theresa May". The Prime Minister is currently in Brussels. It's not clear exactly what the protest, apparently inspired by the recent "gilet jaunes" movement in France, was about. The Facebook page that the live broadcast was hosted on said it was "fighting for justice" for three teenage boys - Harry Rice, George Wilkinson and Josh McGuinness - who were mowed down and killed by a drink driver in Hayes, west London, in January. Chants of "What do we want? Brexit! When do we want it? Now!" and "we need a new mayor of London" were heard on the broadcast.
Seems it's already going to way of the protests in France where it just loses it's plot and it becomes a protest about fucking everything and anything. I mean, what the hell does Brexit have to do with teens being killed by a drunk driver?
Maybe the driver was drinking Grolsch? Would never have happened if he was pissed as a newt on john smith you mark my word sonny jim.
that sorta seems to be a strategy for the alt-right/far-right atm. Where they're attempting to hijack this whole yellow-jacket movement and turn it into a symbol for their movement.
The Brexiteers need to destroy the One Ring in order to guarantee Brexit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tjp5OmoDYQM&t=1s
Why can't these pro bexiters behave themselves like adults? This is childish. You don't get to just shut down streets when you don't get what you want.
Welllllll that kind of is what protesting is, and people have the right to protest
Actually, yes you do.
Children throw tantrums when mummy tells them no. That's not unlike these riots. No respect for themselves or their community. Absolutely pathetic.
There's a massive difference between "I want candy NOW" and "I strongly disagree with what the government is doing" but okay guy, you do you. Granted Brexit seems to be an incredibly stupid, short-sighted, and ham-fisted "solution" to a "problem" if there ever was one.
This may come as a shock but there are no local businesses on Westminster Bridge due mainly to the fact that it's a bridge and not say, an Apple Store. But it was nice of you to leap to the defense of business owners at the expense of peoples right to protest, really taking a bold stance and I'm sure facists everywhere are cheering you on.
I'm pretty enthusiastically anti brexit, but protesting in and of itself is a perfectly legitimate tool in a democracy.
