Theresa May has said it is still possible to get the assurances MPs need to back her Brexit deal, despite EU leaders ruling out any renegotiation.
At a summit in Brussels, the UK PM said there was "work to do" but talks on "further clarification" would continue.
She admitted a "robust" discussion with European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, after he complained about "nebulous and imprecise debate".
Labour said the withdrawal deal was now "dead in the water".
Pooled video footage of Mrs May and Mr Juncker captured a tense exchange on Friday morning after his remarks the previous night.
Just cancel Brexit and move on, ya dumbass. Bad enough we also have an idiot in charge...
To be fair to May, unlike Trump, she's not an idiot. She's actually fairly intelligent, but she's trapped by her political situation. Theresa voted remain, but it'd be political suicide for her to cancel Brexit, even though I agree that it's the best plan.
Time for May to take one for the country then.
Her career is already fucked
Honestly, I'd rather be hated by 30% of the country for stopping something which would ultimately hurt almost 100% of the UKs population in the short and long term.
Go down in infamy quickly, rather than go slowly which my career die because I held onto being prime minister for 6 years.
That's the job of the leadership of a country, though. They're supposed to make those hard choices that provide a better life for the people living in that country. And in May's case, she needs to cancel Brexit, just go on the Beeb and go 'Right, guys, this whole Brexit idea is a right mess, it's just gonna screw us all over, so we're not doing it at this time', then just take what comes politically. Nobody with a working brain is going to say Brexit is a good idea, we've already seen a massive hit to the economy and yet it hasn't actually happened yet. Hell, even I can see how fucktarded a decision brexit is, and A: I'm not exactly an expert on economics and B: It doesn't even directly effect me.
I'm not even disagreeing with you, but just explaining the political reality.
