I love Phillip, but I disagree with the notion that we should like something just because [reason]. I don't decide what I like or what I don't like consciously. If I dislike a book, a movie, a game, an update, it's not because I arrived to that conclusion by weighting different aspects of it's production, content, or how hard the people who created it tried. I dislike it because I dislike it, because when I experienced it, I wasn't enjoying myself. It's a feeling towards the people who made the product, I have nothing against them. It's an automatic response to an experience, and it's beyond my control.
Blacksite is actually pretty fun but the map needs to be a fair amount bigger for it to comfortably house the 16 players
Personally I think deciding your likes/dislikes unconsciously is a bad habit that I also do a lot, but I'd like to do it less. Lately I've been thinking that if I like or don't like something, I need a reason. Simply liking/disliking something because you like/dislike it isn't satisfying enough anymore. Also I should really stop basing my opinions off what the popular opinion is. I'm pretty sure it's those kind of people that the video is referring to. Hating Valve for instance is fine, but hating them because everyone else does is a bad reason IMO.
While it is totally reasonable to dislike something because it isn't tuned to your taste, he may not mean that. From my interpretation, it feels more towards: Don't let first impressions be convictions.
