All this will accomplish is putting an individual who has already been swayed into the far-right, with people who will teach him how things are done on a paramilitary level with groups like the Aryan Nations. I'm not saying that his crimes should be left unpunished, but it'd would be far better in the long run too rehabilitate him through therapy, community service, and put him in a monitored half-way house till he cleans up his act. Simply putting him in jail is not gonna change anything, if anything it'll just push him even further into his bigotry.

When I went to Marillac they were supposed to do psych evaluations every week but i only saw a therapist twice in my 3 month period there and is considered a "good" psychiatric ward for Kansas standards. Granted Kansas is a backwards ass state but apples don't fall far from their trees so chances are he'll barely see a therapist, won't ever get treatment and this will only grow his contempt for society.

Most counts of graffiti are seen as misdemeanors so people will not keep acting up, but the law books tend to have stipulations for throwing someone in for five to eight years for destruction of property in excess of $1000.

Sure we do. After all, this was a hate crime, not mere vandalism. Such degenerates have no place in civilized society, and deserve ostracism. He's either going to use this as an opportunity to turn his life around and gain some worth as a human being, or he'll fall deeper into his radicalism and come to a bad end.
