It's also a pretty fun game, with a bustling modding community! Its capabilities are best explained through visual media, so here's some! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8h0bknQFA5s&t=13s https://youtu.be/7vGYVUCmxeI I'll be filling the OP with more content eventually, but the old thread needed a replacement.
So how does this compare with Wreckfest? I've been keeping an occasional eye on both.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=26R47qyPHb8 Nick is a sexual predator asshole but Car Boys is a great video series to show just how fucking crazy Beamng.drive can be and how funny it can be
They don't really compare all that much. BeamNG is a sandboxy-physic'y fucking-around kind of game, where you could mush together an assortment of different parts on some Ford F-truck mockup, and try to see if you could go rock crawling and not blow your engine up too fucking much, because you had some leftover nitrous. I'd go as far as calling it the spiritual successor to Rigs of Rods. There's no goal. There ARE scenarios, time trails, car chases with AI's and even derby's. It's very emphasized on the physics. Wreckfest is a racing game, with a side of destruction derby. Either go racey-smashy, or smashy-smashy. Both are good, but they're just not really in the same realm. In my opinion at least.
BeamNG is more of a sim trying to achieve realism, wreckfest is more of an arcadey game.

Playground Games need to take a good look at that Italy map and see how you make a good map with lots of twisty corners and mountain roads. Also, when will plane mods finally be un-fucked? I don't know of a single plane mod that works in the current version of BeamNG.
Un-fucked? I just recently installed the Me262, Avro Arrow and Cessplane L19 to see if it was possible to get an aerial view of a large map, and all three worked just fine.
yo what happened to the Gavril Barstow in drag configuration? I remember it being crazy powerful, like 0-100 in a second, now it says 0-100 in 5 seconds and it definitely feels that it's got less power now
The grip of the drag tires has been reduced. It'll probably be kinda crap until the thermals are implemented.
I need more maps like Altitude. I love realistic hot wheels type shit
So hyped for the upcoming content. That Piccolinas gonna be a lot of fun throwing around corners (and off of cliffs.) I loved how the course in Altitude basically ends with your car going through a goddamn wormhole. It was the most perfect track to end the Car Boys series on.
New update is out! A Small Car on a Big Map – Version 0.15 released | BeamNG
Didn't even know this was a thing until a just checked my youtube subs. Quite pleased about this feature. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=11c2lUiPKqw
You think this will run even on minimum settings with my current rig? AMD Phenom II 965 Black @3.7GHz AMD Radeon HD 5770 6GB DDR3 RAM (may or may not be broken) Plenty of SATA SSD space
It should, but if it doesn't you can always get a refund.
Well I got it off of Humbundle because it's $5 cheaper there, and I imagine they don't offer refunds. But hey, I'll give it a spin. Only $20, and if it doesn't run now, it'll run when I get my Ryzen.
I play this with a T300 RS, TH8A gearbox and T3PA Pro pedals. This game is perfect replacement for going for a drive. Don't play this at night. Either the FFB will rattle the tits off your wheel or the clanking pedals will wake your neighbors
It's a bit complex, if you wonder about anything feel free to ask either in this thread or through discord / steam
https://puu.sh/CA0pf.png Electric cars soon?
Ooooh, color me interested
Y'know, I was actually planning to look on the Workshop to see if anyone's made any EV stuff yet. Cool to see official content is coming.
The EVs that exist currently basically have modified ICE engines with weird attributes, but they don't really work like EV engines
Yeah, I figured they'd probably work as such. I imagine the official EVs will introduce an actual new type of component for electric motors. Probably several, since we'll be swapping out the gas tanks for batteries as well. Ooh, I wonder if they'll allow for hybrids? Both the "either the engine or electric motor can drive the wheels" and "the engine only kicks on to recharge the batteries like a generator" types.
It would definitely open up for all of that
I can already imagine what the Piccolinas gonna be like with one of those electric motors swapped in. Just constant wheelies everywhere
Turns out racing trucks are pretty fun https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/490/be833987-6d49-4be4-888f-f6c5789b3fca/BeamNG.drive 2019.03.27 - 23.24.54.09.DVR.webm
what track is that
Shame this game is so hard to play on a controller. Gotta have a wheel for it
Huh? I have like 500 hours mostly with a controller https://www.beamng.com/resources/trial-mountain.285/ It's a Gran Turismo track someone remade
