When first announcing the plant, Tesla said that it expects “construction to begin in the near future” and that it “will take roughly two years” until they start producing vehicles and “then another two to three years before the factory is fully ramped up to produce around 500,000 vehicles per year for Chinese customers.”

Good, these changes need to be happening worldwide.
China is already ahead in electrification. High demand combined with protectionist import taxes China has are why Tesla is expanding here first rather than Europe.
I suspect #4 will be in Europe
Yeah I'm not 100% thrilled because the Chinese laborers working in this factory are going to be treated like slaves. People need to be cautious about riding Tesla's dick just because they're pioneering the right technology.
They're going to be treated pretty much the same they are in every other Tesla plant, except this time it's legal.
I see tesla's gotten tired of dealing with what little labor laws exist.
Fremont is at/near capacity and this factory will serve the Chinese market exclusively. It has nothing to do with labor.
Too bad China is a terrible government who will probably find some way to steal trade secrets for their own manufacturing
Didn't Musk give away the patents anyway?
