https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2018/dec/18/brexit-cabinet-meets-to-discuss-ramping-up-plans-for-no-deal Speaking later in the Commons, the defence secretary, Gavin Williamson, said his department “will have 3,500 service personnel held at readiness, including regulars and reserves, in order to support any government department on any contingencies they may need”. Citizens will be informed how to prepare through a “range of channels” that could include TV adverts and social media. Ministers agreed to allocate money from a £2bn contingency fund to departments such as the Home Office and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. HMRC will prepare a 100-page pack for all UK businesses on preparing for no-deal, and will send out about 80,000 emails to businesses. During the meeting, the work and pensions secretary, Amber Rudd, told her colleagues preparing for a no-deal Brexit was a sensible precaution but “just because you put a seatbelt on doesn’t mean you should crash the car”.
They're planning to use the military for domestic intervention?
Emergency no-deal Brexit contingency plans must now be implemented across government, cabinet ministers have agreed, including reserving ferry space for supplies and putting 3,500 armed forces personnel on standby to deal with any disruption. Disruption by whom? What the fuck do you need troops for?
Oh my god, they actually went through with it, the crazy madmen
they haven't actually done it, it's just it would be so disastrous that we have to get precautions started now. i'm pretty sure in the event of a no deal there's gonna be another election, or at least like 80% of the cabinet resigning
Ireland.

They know riots are probably coming. Big ones. That should be an indicator that you really shouldn’t be going through with it.
deploy armed troops with the full on anticipation that the outcome is so shitty there will be mass riots or don't brexit hmmmmmm
I guess a hot tip is not to order anything from the UK for a while as it's gonna be bogged down and expensive.
They'll see the UK crash and burn than admit they were wrong, both the leaders behind this mess and their foot soldiers and supporters. Admitting their mistake would make them lose any credibility in the eyes of the british public as well as their supporters both, causing an eventual implosion of their chances to do anything for at least another decade.
What's with the conservatives and picking the worst option every goddamn time?!
Basically. The country is an acceptable price to pay for the survival of the party in their eyes. That and May has delusions of being Thatcher.
If they know riots are coming then they know that Brexit is not the will of the people, therefore they are lying when they say they are committed to fulfilling the will of the people.
you've got to be fucking kidding me. I am going to be knocking on the door of my MP's office if this actually the plan, I can't believe this.
Here's where we're all wrong: to them, lying doesnt matter. Cheating the public trust doesn't matter. All that matters is their goal of turning england into a white ethnostate and their own fiefdom to trample in as they please while the less fortunate have to bow and scrape to them.
I bet the vote doesn't happen on the 14th of january.
Guess the only way for us to do a proper job of shooting ourselves in the foot is to get the army in.
I mean no one else is loicensed to carry firearms over there, so you gotta get the military in for any foot-shooting activities.
Looks like canned food is going to be a wise investment. Everyone knows beans on toast is a pretty killer meal anyway.
Beans on toast are what the tories will be if people decide that the rule of law doesn't work in their favor any more, as will britain once all that it has gets drained in divorce bills, capital outflows, and economic damage on a large scale.
This is probably just in precaution of riots in Britain. They wouldn't dare put any troops anywhere near the Irish border, there would be violence and possible murders off the bat.
Guys they're just deploying troops to contain the crowds of cheering people who'll be so happy that we've left the EU with no deal! There certainly won't be any angry people, because all reMOANers will be in their basements grumbling (unpatriotically) on the internet! This post sponsored by the Conservative Party. Troops are gonna be doing stuff like handing out medicine and making sure fights don't break out in the ration queues

Ahhh shit. So the fuel hording begins?
Talking about Overwatch from earlier, while I wouldn't want that, I do think a Blizz rep could be fucking awesome since there are some great potential fighters.
idiots in this thread saying 'rioting' lmao it's obviously to bolster border force and police at pressure points. even with all of them working double shifts the sudden extra work is gonna cause massive delays at the border and the motorways around key ports.
Just keep telling yourself that
I work in a related field of the civil service.
