https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-12-19/trump-ready-to-remove-sanctions-on-deripaska-s-rusal-in-30-days The Trump administration is ready to remove sanctions on Russian billionaire Oleg Deripaska’s aluminum company, United Co. Rusal, after reaching an agreement to significantly reduce his ownership stake. Deripaska will remain under U.S. sanctions and his property will remain blocked, but Treasury intends to remove financial restrictions on Rusal, En+ Group Plc and JSC EuroSibEnergo. The move will take effect in 30 days unless Congress blocks the action, the Treasury Department said in a statement Wednesday. The Treasury secretary highlighted that Deripaska, not the companies, was the intended target of U.S. sanctions imposed in April on associates of Russian President Vladimir Putin over Moscow’s interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election. Rusal is among the largest companies the U.S. has ever put on its sanctions designation list. The value of the aluminum producer has declined by more than half from $9.2 billion more than seven months ago. Half of EN+’s restructured board will be comprised of U.S. or U.K. Nationals, and Rusal’s current board chairman will step down, according to the letter. Deripaska also won’t be allowed to receive cash either in return for shares he relinquishes or from future dividends he may receive from the companies. Congress has 30 days in which to call a vote to block Treasury’s ability to lift the sanctions, according to the Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act passed by lawmakers in August 2017.
Additional context on who Oleg Deripaska is In case it's not already flagrantly obvious that Tinyhands has Putin's arm so far up his ass it's a wonder we don't see his fingers every time he starts whinging
Pretty bold move when Mueller's already got you on the ropes, Donald.
But what about the sanctions on Canada? We signed your stupid fucking trade deal, Donald, the one you tried to make us sign by applying the tariffs.
Canada didn’t give Trump criminal, backroom loans, so they don’t get special treatment.
Just goes to show how strongly Trump is compromised that despite the investigation and the public display of pure treason, that he still chooses to openly try to please his Russian sugar daddy. Makes you wonder what Putin all has on his ass so that he still acts this way.
a killswitch, probably.
Makes me wonder what the "America First!!" crowd thinks.
Money, the key to his ambitions of building a Trump Tower in Moscow and being one of the first US businessmen to make a big accomplishment (for a reason), and likely blackmail in the form of kompromat (peepee tape, who knows what else). And probably the threat of a Novichok milkshake if he tries to bite the hand that feeds him.
Obviously the pee-pee tapes.
GLHF getting a Novichok milkshake into the White House. The Secret Service is a bit twitchy about such things, and for good reason. Betchya they make all of Donnie's big macs just so they can ensure there's nothing funky in them.
Considering Trump has arranged for himself to be alone with Putin and a Russian translator, and him and the Russian ambassador with no one except the two translators present, he's dumb enough to put himself in a dangerous position. I didn't mean Putin would literally try and have a Novichok milkshake delivered to the front door of the White House, addressed to Trump.
It'll be rationalized away as somehow being a good thing since they seem to think Russia's absolutely fantastic somehow.
"Wtf I love Russia now"
This is blatant obstruction of justice. The owner of Rusal isn't just any old Russian oligarch–he is Oleg Deripaska, one of Putin's top-five henchmen, the same Oleg Deripaska who is currently owed over $19 million by Paul Manafort. All of Manafort's influence peddling in Ukraine and later in the U.S. was an effort to "make whole" his relationship with Deripaska. Thus far he has been unable to deliver, and under the circumstances he is refusing to cooperate with the special council because doing so would make an enemy of Deripaska–unless Deripaska were to suddenly receive a substantial return on his investment in the form of sanctions relief. In other words, by slashing sanctions on Rusal, Trump is again dangling a pardon in front of Manafort. He is essentially saying, "Keep your mouth shut, I'll deal with Deripaska."
They'd chant "America Last!!" if daddy Donald told them to.
I believe they've made up their mind awhile ago. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/110525/50bb53ab-111d-4968-bd48-e791b0131ecf/better red than dem.jpg
