Not sure how I feel about this one yet. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dt5g5_1cKVk
Not feeling the more comedic tone at all. The original Hellboy movies had a comedic element but this feels kind of like trying to be Deadpool but failing. It also looks pretty low budget? I'm sure I can see the make up edges on Harbour's face in some of the scenes. Also the acting... Eh. I was giving it a chance but now I'm fully regretting Del Toro won't get to finish his trilogy.
I have this strange feeling the marketing is probably gonna do this film dirty, They really should've stuck with the tone at the start of the trailer and built it from there instead of trying to go the suicide squad/deadpool route with some song from the 80's. However the creatures/fights and makeup look good imo, this badly edited mediocre trailer just does not do this film any favors at all especially when the cast and creator have been selling this film as dark and gritty and true to the comics tone and style. There was test screening for this recently it got positive reactions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZo95gWo468
Like all the cast, the effects look solid as in only solid, not feeling the tone at all.
oh shit! I know these guys. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/114636/3f416a92-75f9-40e5-9492-53dc04529936/Capture.PNG
It's David Harbour, currently mostly known for Stranger Things. Oh, is that Jin from LOST? Nice https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Harbour
Chin Ho Kelly, please return to Hawaii 5-0 https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/h50/images/2/2c/Chin_bn.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20100930220330
Might be cool I liked the original hellboy movies though
I think the designs in this looks so generic and terrible. Hellboys make up doesn’t look as stylish as the del toro one, feels more like a haunted house monster make up in my opinion.
I clapped! I clapped when I heard *recognizable pop song*! It's funny because you wouldn't expect something so upbeat and bouncy to accompany a badass comic book trailer!
Speaking of the cast, this is the first time I've seen Laila Morse (oi I need some ID love) in anything but Eastenders. She's very famous in the UK for that, but few seem to know her brother is Gary Oldman.
This trailer looks awful, I'll not write the film off just yet but I doubt I'll see it in the cinema.
Perlman's Hellboy had life to it.. This looks like a mid-grade halloween getup. Throw in the possibility that 75% of the film will be CGI and the whole thing will probably be blegh.
I can't help it, the fight scene at 1:13 looks like something out of low budget superhero TV show. And at 1:53 I can see the fucking mask around the eyes.
Watch, it's actually a Tide ad.
hellboy's face makeup looks cheap. it's like they're trying really hard to make his face weird, wheras ron pearlman's face is already weird.
I was thinking the same thing. It's like they copied everything from the previous Hellboy and just slammed this guys face into a brick wall with the make up already on and said "Yup, that's an ugly demon."
His face looks so weird. I don't know what it is about it but something looks weird and disturbing.
His face looks like, and voice sounds like, he's stuck behind a cheap rubber mask
Here's a image from the wild hunt. https://i.redd.it/hpa05uhcso521.jpg
The rest of it looks ok, but something about his face really bugs me, it looks like something you'd see on the front of a death metal album. I defo prefer Ron Pearlman's softer face.
This does not sit well with me, I'm getting that "feeling" that it's going to be sub-par, Also Ron perlman's wish to make the third Hellboy movie makes me sad. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ysLGGQzQao
Oh no, Milla Jovovich...
I saw her in the trailer and didn't believe that it was her. I thought she only did Resident Evil and nothing else
I have a friend of mine who worked on the previous hell boy films, did the static prop of the dead tooth fairy as well as Trevors leather handbag among other props. According to him there was a lot of back end fuckery going on when they decided to produce a new film, and basically shut EVERYONE out who had worked on the previous films. In regard to what we see here hellboy just doesn't feel right what so ever. The way his make up is done make him look very serious, which makes it all the more off putting when he throws in some of the lighthearted jokes and jabs. He's got a tall cup to fill when judging based on Perlmans performance, and honestly I don't think he's going to be as good.
that and Facebook autoplay
Yeah it's to capture attention in social media feeds, because nobody's going to stop scrolling for a Paramount logo or establishing shot but they might do after Hellboy's funny joke.
So they can insert the video as a 5 second ad in-between other videos. Which you'll never see if you have adblock.
