https://news.sky.com/story/three-more-held-after-islamic-state-terrorists-kill-two-scandinavian-tourists-in-morocco-11586721?dcmp=snt-sf-twitter They even recorded their killings. Absolutely disgusting.
That is really fucking sad
Didn't watch the video, apparently it's so shocking, cruel and unbelievably brutal, it'll ruin your week. I read a description about it for those interested (NSFL) Camera starts off looking at the assailants blade. Then pans to one of the women laying face down on the ground, alive, in just her underwear. Assailant whacks the blade into the back of her neck and starts sawing. Woman screams “ahh!” followed by a louder “aaaahhhh!” The man flips her around and keeps sawing, blood spurting our everywhere. The camera quality is shit but you can tell her eyes are wide in terror. Her last noises sound like they’re her gargling in her own blood as the blade cuts deeper and deeper. Her arms twitch due to her spinal cord being separated from her body. She’s probably dead at this point because all her movement stops. Blade keeps going with sawing and more whacking because it’s dull and the man can’t cut through. Eventually he cuts through and rips the severed head from her body. He then throws it across the room. Video ends shortly after. Absolutely barbaric.
Came across the pictures posted unmarked somewhere else. Only caught a glance but fucking horrifying. Don't know how I'm gonna move on from that.
Absolutely disgusting. My heart dropped to my stomach after just reading the description, I can't bring myself to watch the video. Savages.
Who the fuck rates this funny?
Assholes pretty much regardless of the reasoning
It's really hard to rate on mobile. They could have hit the wrong button and not noticed. I've done that a couple of times. I usually rush to check on a real computer, but that's because I'm really concerned over things like that.
A Discord server I go to was spammed with the video and stills from it. Be safe; it's genuinely upsetting to see literally anything about it. I've seen a worse description of it.
Will happen again. They shouldn't have gone to such an unstable country where women don't even have rights
Sadly, the girls seemed to think that since their country was safe so was the rest of the world, I heard their family even advised them not to go there and that they ignored their comments. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/349254/1dceaa14-3e71-473f-8669-44927fe9d5fc/qary18cm1j521.jpg
Morocco is a well known tourist destination. Although largely muslim, they are pretty open, and the last terror attack was in 2011
Morocco is fairly safe, I know many people who’ve gone (including unaccompanied women) and no one has been brutally murdered. I mean this story would be tragic no matter what, but this is why it’s been such a big shock. I (luckily) haven’t seen the video myself, or really read a description of it - to be honest I’ve been sorta annoyed by the amount of news surrounding the video in particular. Like there’d be an article about how we don’t know if it’s real yet, and then later one that’s like “CONFIRMED REAL”. Personally I’m a bit disgusted by the fascination news sites have had with it.
Already victim blaming? You're sure is their fault and not from these terrorists? Morocco is a popular and safe country for tourists, a couple of friends just returned from spending some days in Fez and at the desert without any problems, and they are all women.
Horrible. I've made the trek from Imlil to Toubkal, probably passed the place they were found. That whole region, albeit remote, seemed very nonthreatening - the villagers were either minding their own business or trying to sell you something. The locals are very hospitable and they also realize that a lot of Morocco's GDP comes from tourism. The trail from Imlil to Toubkal was pretty busy, too (we went in February), so it makes sense these two figured it was safe to set up camp in this area. I have never done wild camping there and never will - just out of sheer precaution -, but most parts of the country seem very western, so I couldn't blame the girls for losing their guard.
Seen probably more gore videos than the average person, but I came across the video. I watched a few seconds of it and the second the knife went into the girls throat fucking traumatized the shit out of me. The sight of a hopeless girl in her underwear getting sliced in the throat while she gurgles trying to call for her mother filled me with the worst kind of grief. These are the same girls you go to school with, the girls you see happy together in stores, the girls enjoying their time with their own shenanigans. They are a part of society which you would absolutely notice if they weren't there. Having them taken away by self-proclaimed ISIS members is like having your own friends killed. Noone deserves death in such a fucking brutal way. Kind of a relief to see everyone actively talk about this case and show actual sorrow towards these women. For once I don't see as many "everybody dies all the time who cares" edgelords in the comments.
I think you should really put spoiler tags around the few details of the video in your post even just that was enough to fuck me up for a few minutes again. I think it's better for future visitors of this thread if you censored it
i have been to morocco and never felt unsafe there. though absolutely despicable, this isnt a common occurrence
What kind of a person can go through something like sawing a complete stranger's head off? And a young woman at that. There is no limit to the cruelty of humans.
hmm lets see what the murder rate is in morocco https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/57889/3da5cf2d-09d0-439b-a513-8150cc8f88f4/Screen Shot 2018-12-23 at 7.56.12 PM.png 1.24 per 100,000, huh? makes sense, it is filled with scary muslims after all. see, just compare it to a safe modern country like america https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/57889/e1baf4ef-4c58-4ae6-9cf5-3a654f3dd9e6/Screen Shot 2018-12-23 at 7.56.26 PM.png oh...
I don't think it's unreasonable to say that North Africa isn't a great place for unprotected westerners to go right now, and I'd say that's probably increased for two white women travelling without guidance which would present a fairly safe target for a few bad men looking to do harm. Morocco as a whole is probably fairly safe when you take the proper precautions, though, I dunno.
I will say that, in regard to if Morocco is "safe", in certain circumstances it's just not. You can compare it to the US in terms of murder rate, but as a gay man I will literally never step foot in that area or any country in which homosexuality is literally against the law. But, then again, I also specifically moved away from Virginia (near West Virginia) in the direction opposite of the Southern most states where Christian extremism is a problem.
Have to agree, the description of the events sounds more like a serial/psycho killer pack than a terrorist cell. Terrorists usually go after locals in public places, it's more common for serial killers to target tourists in isolated areas, especially since they made a spectacle of it.
Honestly if people had read a bit about the case, they’d know that the Moroccan government and police have defined this as an act of terror.
Your point has more reverse gears than a truck. I can go to Brazil and have a jolly vacation but later be murdered in China.
Torture. These assholes don't deserve human rights.
You know torturing fucks up the person doing the torturing too right? Also makes it look really dumb to go "murdering and torturing defenseless people is wrong" and then turn around to torture someone, even if they're at fault.
Nah these guys pledged their allegiance to ISIS on social media before going and committing the murders, its pretty safe to assume that its terrorism motivated. Morocco can say goodbye to its tourism industry after this even though they caught the guys.
By capitalising on this story so much and giving the illusion that Morroco is a much more dangerous destination than it actually is, the media is doing just what the terrorists want to achieve. It's incredible how irresponsible they are, they're supposed to know better.
the point of human rights is not that they can be applied selectively
