I really don't know what to think. Trailer not giving great impressions, seems to push the funny comedy too much and a bad music choice to boot. MIB has always been comedic but with really heavy moments, I'm not sure those two can pull off the balance that Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones could.
That looks awful. Don't foresee it being even watchable much less the classic the original was.
oh no
i don't like Thor or his Valkyrie friend as MIB agents. what the fuck is happening?
nah besides that mindfuckery, it looks alright despite trampling on the original movies.
Oh wow
The first car I think of when somebody mentions an international alien crime/spy agency is a Lexus...
Looks boring
This looks just as goofy as that last MIB where will smith goes back in time.
Don't have high hopes.
That movie was great though.
I thought it was the weakest in the series. So from my view, if they're trying to mimic that one, I don't expect this to be a great MIB movie.
Is it just me or do their suits not fit properly?
Also, Men in Black was meant as a semi-serious parody of alien sci-fi and conspiracies. The MIB should be the ultra professional, seen this shit a thousand times, types. Not falling asleep at your desk and getting excited about Taco Tuesday. From how the agents acted in the first film, and how even J became more serious and professional in the second it always seemed like the MIB had a very particular way of doing things and even if you're a quirky outsider you will eventually end up like all the other po-faced agents.
Also "It's a threat to the entire world". That's like a weekly occurrence for the MIB, it was the plot of the first two films and it was given less gravitas than in this trailer.
I really hope it's mostly just the trailer doing a poor job at showing the film.
I was kind of with it until the music started.
I mean, a track from like 15 years ago for a movie that looks like only a small part of it takes place in London.
It is almost as though, and hear me out on this, this is going to be crap...
Finally, Men in Black the Ghostbusters treatment.
It DID have an animated series like the Ghostbusters, and a sequel of lesser quality. It didn't need the Ghostbusters Reboot treatment, though!
That button at 2:16 really should've just been the hazards lights or whatever. Like, what's the joke there?
Either way this looks like another soulless soft reboot, where you just go through the motions of the first movie again to get it over with.
I'm conflicted because this looks like only ok but i also really want to see it because i want Tessa Thompson and Chris Hemsworth to double team me
i see i have two big questions and thats one big problem for the trailer:
Whats the movie about? i dont get whats going on and not in a good way
and, where are all the damn aliens? lol
It doesn't look like a reboot, because Emma Thompson is still a head of american MiB + in trailer there are pictures of agents J, K and even D.
Honestly, I am kinda intrigued by that. Either it's gonna be bland, or we're gonna get another III (which was great, despite it's flaws)
Nobody in that trailer looked like they wanted to be in there
I'm okay with it.
I mean at least its not a reboot or a rehash trying to actually be the original MIB.
Its just a sorta in universe spin off I suppose.
I mean considering more than half the trailer consisted of callbacks I'm sorta confused at the "not a rehash" thing.
With the caveat that obviously I don't have the script, from the trailer alone it looks a lot like a soft reboot/rehash/whatever you wanna call it.
I thought that it was going to be a Jump Street crossover?
that's a different movie iirc
When are people going to stop acting like trailers are actually representative of films lol
we all know how they work, what their goal is, how they chop up existing footage to sell something in a way that quite often differs from the end product
yet every time it seems the same discussion happens
You say that, but with some movies you can get a feel for how bad it's going to be with the initial trailer. This gives of Ghostbusters Reboot vibes in a really bad way.
It doesn’t seem to do that IMO
I'm not getting a Ghostbusters Reboots vibe from the trailer. That shit was a trash fire from moment one. This trailer is just kind of bad but it could misrepresent the film.
Like how in Men in Black II there's the bit where J gets thrown into the rubber tubes and takes almost a full minute to get out. That's a bad scene in a fairly good film, if they showed that in the trailer it would have made the film look awful.
Well at least they're not doing the first movie for the fourth fucking time.
Don't get me wrong, I love MIB, but both MIB2 and 3 were so bullshit.
They went through extraordinary lengths to recreate the "K knows everything, J is a young fool" dynamic, causing no actual character development to happen - such a disappointment.
At least the side characters in those movies were fun enough
MIB 3 actually had the charracter development you're talking about though?
