He acknowledged the church had not always treated the issue seriously, blaming leaders who out of inexperience or shortsightedness acted “irresponsibly” by refusing to believe victims. But he said the church would never again conceal or dismiss such cases.
“Let it be clear that before these abominations, the church will spare no effort to do all that is necessary to bring to justice whosoever has committed such crimes,” he said.
The pope urged victims to come forward, thanked the media for giving them a voice and issued a stark warning to abusers: “Convert and hand yourself over to human justice, and prepare for divine justice.”
why wasn't there divine justice earlier, this has been happening for hundreds of years, if not more
dang, our lord god almighty sure does cave fast to media pressure
man the title cut off and i thought it was the pope threatening a single child
He should honestly just excommunicate them honestly.
I'm tired at this point that he always says this kind of words and then later silently they are forgiven and / or relocated to another places.
Why we can't bypass them and let the police arrest and throw them in prision is something that I don't understand ( I mean, outside of Spain, Ireland and maybe Italy, the Vatican doesn't have so much power to hold back politicians. Well maybe in South America as well ).
He's going to put them in the Papal naughty corner so they can think about what they've done, long and hard.
Divine justice.. the best kind of justice.
So in other words "prepare for nothing to happen"?

I'll believe it when I see it. I expect nothing to change.
Atomic, ye of little faith... When was the last time a religious organization lied to people for their own benefit?
