oh shit i fucking love pathalogic, i didn't expect a mandalore review of it
Pathologic is awesome granted I only watched a friend play it cause I'm too dense. He played 2 of the 3 characters and it was like 60-70 hours of him suffering through confusing and nonsensical dialogue and getting chased by the super-plague. The game is fuckin remarkable though. The art is so cool, and theres a bunch of weird shit outside the obvious like a building with a ladder that goes up like 3 or 4 more stories than the scaffolding which is already 3 stories taller than the finished building, and the dialogue portrait for the guy who runs the theater in the game looks like Ainsley in that pepper grinder pic. Shoutout to my fav line in the game too: "And there these war mongrels were... when I saw them, I knew our cake was dough" Its really one of those games you gotta see a full playthrough of to really get a grasp on what kind of game you're dealing with, but if you wanna play it good luck cause its hard and confusing as fuck.
@ss013r when are you gonna stream the Changeling playthrough it'll only take another 30-40 hours of being shanked by bolsheviks and trying to comprehend dialogue almost worse than my drunk ramblings
it's also incredibly stressing to play. really gave me a pretty extreme sense of helpless dread that no other game has been able to accomplish
I savoured every minute of this.. I couldn't get past the WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALKIIIIIIIINNNNNGGGGG. I'm glad he slogged through it to tell me the good bits so I didn't have to.
Eventually, I guess!
But yeah, if anyone watched this video and think the game seems interesting, I'd urge you to give it a shot. Yeah, the combat isn't great (although I'm not sure I would have it any other way), and there's a lot of time spent walking, but it's quite unlike anything else I've played.
Also don't get put off by the "horror" aspect, as there's no jump-scares or anything really meant to outright scare you.
So is there maybe a mod for this game that makes you walk faster? Seems like that's the thing stopping most people from enjoying it.
Just as a head's up, Ice Pick Lodge's other games aren't much better. Of them all, I'd say probably Cargo: The Quest For Gravity is the most playable and sensible, but it doesn't net you the obscure gnawing ennui that Pathologic, The Void, and Knock-Knock do.
