I guess you could say they really swept the crowd away
You could also say that's a pretty insensitive joke
Nothing is immune to humour, but the trigger was definitely pulled a bit too quickly in this case.
Desperate for the endorphin trickle of seeing people rate you funny, I guess?
Well, you’ve gotta test the waters first.
Good lord some of the videos of Krakatau erupting are insane
I have never really seen an actual eruption until looking at this volcano

humour in general, sure. Context matters though
i searched up for the video of the collapsing stage, its quite horrifying and depressing
You just gotta make sure you're funnier than your are offensive. Now his post was within the curicial "snipe zone," which is always worth quite a few bonus points, but I'm afraid the pun wasn't up to snuff. The crowd being "swept away" just doesn't quite work as a phrase on its own well enough to be a proper double entendre. Perhaps he would have more luck with some sort of wave-based pun, but the moment is lost.
Death toll went up to 168

Shit.. Accidentally gave a coin to OP while I was trying to give it to Curls so don't think that I'm an insensitive twat.
An update on this.
The only survivor of the band was the singer, his wife and the rest of the band are confirmed deceased.
Even sadder s that today was his wife's birthday.

I wonder how long the Krakatoa/Anak Krakatu volcanic hotspot will last for.

theres been a bunch of seismic disasters recently and th is appears to be the most recent
We'd like to think we can see disasters coming to an extent with weather events, but seismic activity continues to pull a fast one on us...
Do Indonesian authorities not have any early-warning systems?
The CBS News video two posts above yours explains that they do but it's only setup to warn due to earthquake triggers and it's been out of commission for about 6 months due to vandalism and a bunch of other shit.
This just keeps getting worst

Update from Volcano Discovery yesterday:
https://www.volcanodiscovery.com/krakatoa/2018/dec/eruption-tsunami/updates.html
TL;DR: most of the volcano collapsed in on itself and sea water is meeting the lava, scientists warned about this 6 years ago, local tsunami warning systems were only built with earthquakes in mind and not a volcanic collapse so no warning was given

oh jeez i thought no one reported this
very few will change sadly, everyone here is too superstitious and corrupt to do something right
