I wonder if there's grounds for a defamation case here?
Of course the cumrag that is the Daily Mail would one to name and shame them.
The government really needs to hold the fucking tabloids to account for shit like this. Oh, sure, they have to publish an apology and retraction if they were objectively lying. But the rules on that are so relaxed that they can hide the fucking thing in a corner of a page of advertising. Retractions should be front page, full size letters of remorse. Or just shut the bastard things down, they don't actually report news anyway.
if this was in america the couple would 100% win a libel suit are these kinds of headlines typical in the UK? this never happens in the US (unless it's a big celebrity/public figure) https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/110042/ab66f0b8-fe42-4fea-9106-bbc50e712f6b/image.png
rupert murdoch has a large network of tabloid rags created only for the sake of yellow journalism
And even if it was them, an airport not having systems in place that crippled it for nearly half a week should be the biggest take from this.
I'm surprised he ain't dead yet
He feeds off the suffering his shitrags cause, it gives him life.
Piers Morgan can go suck a fat chode
Yep, a big one too.
One hundred fucking percent. Sue them into the god damn ground.
Leveson 2. Right here, right now. We can't stand idly by and allow for this sort of trial by media to happen again.
Dude, that couple is most likely gonna be rich now. That is one huge colossal fuck up for the paper.
I love that his occupation is constantly referenced by these bigoted pricks. It's not enough that they allegedly caused all this trouble, they should also just be ashamed of being working class scum.
I'm just constantly baffled as to how these publications are still being read. Has the prevalence of the internet reduced readership of this sort of press at all, or just created a bigger audience for it?
I hope for a lawsuit, and I wish they didn’t have to file it themselves.
I wonder how many offers they'll get from law firms willing to take this case on...
Demographics. Think the vast majority of newspapers are aimed at the 40/50+ demog, hence why they work so well at promoting certain ideas
A damaged drone? They were released because the drone went rogue or...?
It's a tabloid newspaper thing, in the states you have things like fox news and such and here in the UK we have the tabloid papers. While the news is heavily scrutinised to be impartial by an independant watchdog, the papers are self regulated which means that most of them are utter trash and highly politically leaning. Could literally be someone reported them saying they had a drone similar to the one seen in heathrow, they were investigated and found to have nothing to do with the incident and set free. Obviously the Daily Mail found out about these two being questioned and saw a great bait of a headline, notice that while they heavily imply its them its full of things like "are they?"
Sounds like they owned a drone or two and that was enough to atleast inquire further into them.
where else would the names leak? the police are responsible here.
Nosey neighbours, family facebook posts. Social media provides a wealth of information with the right amount of digging, especially when you can email a newspaper reporter about it for a quick £50 or so.

Can we just remove the Daily Mail? Like, forever?
Libel laws are actually much stronger in the UK, so there's no question that they'd win if they went to court. Strong libel laws might sound good, but it causes a lot of problems too, so I'd rather it was like America.
libel suit in 10...9...8...
