A spokeswoman for the court, Kathy Arberg, also said Ginsburg remained in New York at Memorial Sloan Kettering cancer center on Sunday. No information has been released on when Ginsburg might return home.

The court next meets on 7 January. Despite her health problems, Ginsburg has never missed arguments.

Ginsburg is the most prominent justice among what is considered the liberal wing of the court.

its just the whole scotus process has been horribly broken for almost 100 years and there's no signs of anyone fixing it. Like we have been spiraling down to kavanaugh since woodrow willson for christ sake. there's no way any constitutional amendments would even be passed today to fix it even if congress decided to not make something partisan

The issue is reforming these entire broke systems is an undertaking that requires so much cooperation and supervision that it probably isn't even feasibly possible right now. You first have to convince a majority of the country to move in a certain direction, make sure that direction is something that will actually improve society (which you may not always know) with proof, protect those policies from people (politicians) who would use them incorrectly and/or loophole them (again which is difficult as you can't see the future or know what fucked up way someone might game the system), figure out a way to implement them without shutting down functioning society/businesses who might move and all while making sure to adhere to the original image our dead forefathers from almost 300 years ago decided.

So the GOP can load up SCOTUS to be 80% far right judges?

That actually is already in place. The hearings were public (and live streamed). And the committee had Democrats on it who gave Kavanaugh questions as well.

If the GOP have majority of seats in the Senate, then they get majority of seats in each committee. Same thing goes for if the Democrats have the majority.
