OP under construction.
This game is like 12 years old, you should know what you're getting into with this one.

Here is all the information you need if you're wanting to come back to the game.
Yes. People still sperg out about 40%ers.
Premium shop has gotten 100% worse.
Can't talk to the other teams now.
Yes. You'll still get raped by E-25s.
Yes. Russian Bias is still a thing.
No. Still no multiple turrets.
Yes. Arty is still cancer.
Camo now cost gold.
WoS-type Lootboxes.
arty is still cancer but it is definitely less cancer than it used to be (other than the lefh), but holy fuck the e-25 is the most obnoxious shit i have ever played against. i would rather fight a team of 15 is-3a's then fight one e-25
Stop playing this game.
no matter how long i go it keeps dragging me back in
Started playing this and World of Warships earlier this month. I was going to post a list of things that are still wrong with the game but the post above is pretty accurate. Still no baseline sixth sense but we are getting a premium ammo rework, finally, next year.
The German tree is still thoroughly mediocre while the American tree has been powercreeped to hell. Meanwhile most of the Russian lines are comfy and lead to tier 10's that are either the best or close to best in their respective categories.
they kind-of-not-totally said they were going to add baseline sixth sense in 2019
I vaguely remember the only fun and anything approaching success I had in this game was with the KV-2.
my tiger 2 feels like its made out of paper and the cannon (the final one) is barely better than the default. its also very slow. i gimped myself for one aesthetic tank.
I'm happy they're planning more frontline. It was a nice and chill way to learn my T8s.
I am currently playing only for the christmas missions and I don 't know why I am punishing myself like that. Actually having some fun with it too.
Worst thing is that 2 of my friends started playing wot again and seeing the mistakes they make while playing makes me hate the game more and more.
Tier 8 is the worst matchmaking tier because of how +2/-2 works. On top of this the Tiger II is a particularly bad tier 8 heavy. The plus side is that the E-75 is decent and the E-100, while mediocre right now (and completely obsolete next to the Polish tier 10 heavy) is getting a buff next year. Speaking generally German tanks are rough to play all the way up to and including tier 10. Quickybaby did a video last year of the bottom 10 tanks by win-rate and 6 of them were German with 4 in the top 5.
me: maus is unplayable cant wait for gold ammo nerf
also me (playing mediums): why can't i pen this superheavy frontally wg pls nerf armor
the duality of man
Never forget.

never 4get original [fp] landing at kaliningrad on day 1 of CW and going into battle with 15 lowes and winning
KT is the worst T8 heavy. WG hasn't buffed it in years, they're too busy adding more powercreep P2W premiums.
I quit WoT about 8 months ago and haven't bothered reinstalling. The abundance of XVM focus, skycancer, powercreep and gold shell spam put me off it.
Come to WoWS instead.
I came back after a few years, played for about two days, and left. It feels like the Blockbuster/Kodiak of armored games. Wargaming.net is kind of extremely resistant to any big sweeping changes in WoT because "we da best", and still have probably one of the least-consumer friendly premium stylings of the markets out there. (Won't touch on whatever new OP stuff got added that people've complained about as I haven't followed it that deeply.) WT still has the same capture-the-circle mode with questionable maps, but I always feel like I have room to try out some new stuff that can be off-meta without being slapped in the face for daring.
I enjoyed WoWS a fair deal more than WoT, though, but couldn't get into it. The friends I had who left WoT and didn't go into WT, went into WoWS. I think I like it's presentation better than whatever War Thunder's Naval attempt is.
I won't disagree with them being resistant to change; everything I didn't like about WoT 8 years ago is still more or less around, just marginally less shitty. And it's indisputable that premium tanks clearly crossed the line into pay2win years back, and I absolutely detest their policy of not nerfing them and instead artificially increasing demand by taking them off the market. I don't know if I entirely agree with the latter part though. If anything I feel like WT is much worse in this regard, since being shot at all brings a fairly high chance of being killed outright. Pound for pound I think WT is better designed, but I can see why people still play WoT. It's just so much more forgiving.
Related to that I think a problem both games have is a severe amount of sealclubbing. Its not as bad in WT as in WoT but my perspective of someone coming back to both games after year long absences and starting fresh grinds is that I often times feel like the game is rigged from the beginning because I'm playing against people with literally thousands of battles in the lower tiers.
I'm not convinced anything in War Thunder is intentionally designed. Everything about that game, both good and bad, just seems like a complete accident or coincidence. I would say World of Tanks is much more designed. I've played a bit of World of Tanks recently, but all I've been doing is driving the Panzer IV now that it looks like a real Panzer IV and not some weird abomination. I've been doing surprisingly solid with that tank. Other than that though, I'm not playing World of Tanks much. I still observe it from a distance out of curiosity, same as War Thunder, but I don't have any particular desire to really get back into it. It's so overwhelming now with so much content and stuff in the garage that I don't recognize or know what it's for. I just do some mid tier battles for fun once in a while and that's about it.
Tier 5-7 is optimum World of Tanks these days, but even 7 is pushing it with the amount of premium tier 8s available and 3/5/7 matchmaking. If you like the Pz IV check out the American M4, very similar playstyle.
Thank goodness, a new WoT thread. I have so many things to cry, complain, and scream about to people who can't do anything about it.
I just recently relapsed due to the news of the French armoured cars and have been power grinding tier 9's for the latter half of December. While working towards expanding my tier 10 collection I've also been trying to do personal campaign missions and I so fucking hate the Effective Armour heavy tank mission. Like come on, people, shoot at my impenetrable turret for fuck's sake. (And no, firing HE instead is not helping me; stop it.)
The most fun i had in this was when a friend and I found out that we could push friendly artillery into a river to kill them so we did nothing but that for a few games
It's a 5x weekend so you know what that means! 925xp Marder game because I got one shot by a Hetzer at the very beginning :[
way back right after the release of tier 8 arty we had a field day because you used to be able to put your (collidable) barrel through the artillery barrel and when they fired it would cause them to suicide
i want the panhard so bad, its fast as fuck
I had a whole lieu of good games and good moods yesterday, making skips and hops in my grinds but today it's been terrible, and the only remotely fun matches I've had have been in my darling dearest AMX 30.
The Standard B is a pretty grueling stock grind, especially coming off the quirky Pantera's absurd mobility and side-scrape capable armour. I wish the Pantera was picked as the premium of the Italian tree instead of the Progetto 45; it's so mush more unique. It also reminds me of the good old times of Aufklärunspanzer Panther and the ridiculous antics of cruise missile gameplay.
Thinking more about it, it feels like ramming is not so easily pulled of nowadays... Perhaps if we one day finally get back the Auful Panther, the armour, mass, and the current light tank mobility might just be the ticket to bringing back the glory days of impromptu recon vehicle-to-cruise missile conversions.
why did they even remove the awfulpanther? i remember when they first added it people hated it and only used it because it could ram people. basically the same reason people play the e-50m now.
also i picked up the amx 13 57 today and holy shit this thing is positively stupid. it feels absolutely broken.
I think the Auful Panther was removed pretty much just because it was underperforming and was probably the target of constant complaints. Funny that the Chi-Ri is still in the game, then, although there might be no better alternative for it. But even then they could give it the 90 mm (Or was it an 88 mm?) gun the Americans thought it was supposed to mount when they found the prototype. Speaking of which, I think the Chi-Ri is also a really interesting vehicle to play because of its top gun's burst capability paired with the tank's inconvenient size.
