Isn't Der Speigel basically the german equivilant to buzzfeed?
Not as bad as buzzfeed, but it's jokingly being called "Das ehemalige Nachrichtenmagazin" (the former news magazine) by some for a reason.
Spiegel said it now had information that Relotius allegedly launched a campaign for readers to give money to help subjects of an article he wrote but that the bank details he gave directed the funds to his own account.
That's some 200 IQ shit right there, not even using a third party account.
Washington post, then
Not sure how you made the leap from BuzzFeed to Washington Post.
Formerly respectable publication gone off the deep end
Please explain how the Washington Post has gone off the weekend? It's one of the few still trust-able news agencies as far as I know.
He's probably alluding to the fact that it has a not insignificant liberal bias. It was also bought by Jeff Bezos in 2013 who has a political agenda.

These media sources have a slight to moderate liberal bias. They often
publish factual information that utilizes loaded words (wording that
attempts to influence an audience by using appeal to emotion or
stereotypes) to favor liberal causes. These sources are generally
trustworthy for information, but may require further investigation.
bezos political aspirations are to make Amazon more powerful.
hes hardly a “leftist”
Yeah Bezo's and Lefty Movements is fucking funny considering that the Leftist movements generally loath Amazon for the way it treats its workers.
That little shit is personally responsible for serving blatant lies about us, good to see that such things are punished, even belatedly

Oh, things like publicizing blatent sexist discrimination with an obvious ideological motivation behind them. I know it's petty but things like that tend to make me doubt their objectivity and impartiality.
While I can accept your worry about their impartiality when they publish articles like that in their opinions, I'd hardly argue that's "gone off the deep end". The Washington Post still makes very valuable factual and objective articles, especially in this age of right-wing media sources publishing outright falsehoods. They are still very much a news publication company, you just have to keep in mind their biases when reading about something.
Normally i would agree, but again, when they find publishing something that the daily stormer would get a hard on for in madlib form, predicated on group identity and marxist dogma, that's where i draw the line, and i simply cannot trust anything they put out if they're that utterly without standards. I don't care who's doing it, I revile breitbart for lesser offenses. I think the National Post is really the only outlet i actually trust anymore.
And let's say this, if you don't draw the line at outright and willfull calls for group supremacy, where exactly is the line?
When an new company begins to publish these kinds of articles with a disturbing regularity. It was one singular opinion piece article, and I don't know of anything else offered by the Washington Post like it. Don't get me wrong, it's alarming, but it doesn't mean that the Washington Post has gone of the deep end, and you can still trust their reporting to be factual. Look at everything by a case by case basis, don't just assume everything from the Post is going to be trash because of ONE article.
