I get that because he's playing Frank Underwood, the context of things "we loved" and stuff he "did and didn't do" is to the character and its arch on HOC but boy if this doesn't come across as Spacey skirting around issues.

kevin spacey basically admitted to sexual harassment and rape, and I don't think it's fair to call it hiding behind "frank underwood" because he plays that role in almost every movie he's cast in.

this is a bleak masculine statement of right to power, delivered with a truthfulness only the veneer of acting can give.

Societally we like to act as if primal power games don't factor into sexuality but that's a lie we're trying to escape, animalism we're trying to ascend from. Here, kevin spacey relishes it, he feeds on it. If there is every a true depiction of evil being "The things that men do", this is it.

I admire and loathe him for it.
