https://youtu.be/ASaJb5KEHIk Dog tries to follow owner after being abandoned at roadside The dog can be seen wagging his tail and jumping at the car as his former owners try to drive away. He then attempts to pursue the car as it drives off. Described as a "friendly, lovely boy", the dog named Snoop by his rescuers was found "sitting sadly in his bed" by passers-by.
This hurt to watch No good boy deserves this.
Fucking hell thats upsetting. The way he keeps trying to get back in and follow his owner is just fucking heartbreaking. Frankly being as far the fuck away as possible from that shithead will be the best thing for him, but it shouldn't have to be that way to begin with.
God that's just hard to watch. I love dogs like family so seeing someone do this to a family member is hard shit for me.
At least he was rescued. Hopefully he's adopted by a good, loving family soon! https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/215204/2eacc83a-1b1c-4c77-902d-3b176fb571a9/skynews-snoop-dog_4529330.jpg
How can people do this? It's astounding someone could drive away from that and be okay with it. I don't care what your reasons are or your situation is. You are a piece of living shit if you do this. I don't care if you can't afford it or are on hard times or if you gotta pay for some other bullshit. Only someone with a rotten heart could do this. If you need to get rid of your pet there are proper ways to do it. This is just hateful. Shame on this person. This absolutely hateful monster of a person.
I hope whoever left that poor dog behind is caught and reprimanded. There are tons of better ways to give up your dog.
Is it really so hard to just find a home for him? I don't blame people for having to get rid of their pet for whatever reason, but abandoning it on the side of the road is fucked up, mate
How can this possibly be easier than giving it to a shelter? I don't even like dogs but that's just gut wrenching. I dunno how they live with themselves.
i wonder if they are the dogs owners or some assholes took the dog to get rid of it for some reason.
Someone tried this in the street I live. Since it only has a couple of houses and the rest is just farm land, nobody would see, but I did. Couple in a micra put a dog out of the car then started driving away, while he tried to get back on it. They eventually stopped and let it in again, knowing we were watching. They probably did it elsewhere though...
Ruined Christmas
This is just so sad to watch. I'm so glad the dog was picked up by someone else.
A couple of months ago I was out and I passed a woman walking a bull terrier, and out of nowhere it jumped up at me, and it was super surreal and happened in a flash, but it sank its teeth into my arm and held on for a few seconds before letting go. I was lucky to have a thick jacket on which shielded me from the worst of it, but nonetheless one tooth pierced my wrist and I saw blood running down my hand as the dog pulled away. I went to A&E and got some glue on it and it was fine, it looked worse than it really was. Here are some pics https://i.imgur.com/z0ziG5o.jpg - blood on my wrist, looked pretty bad https://i.imgur.com/6x8YNDx.jpg - few days later, lol just a tiny plaster but quite a big bruise Anyway, there was a process of considering whether to press charges against the owner, which I didn't do because the owner was reasonable and it was clearly just a one-off fuckup that could happen to anyone. But then I heard that they were looking at getting the dog put down. One night I lay awake thinking about the fact that the dog might be put down because of something I was involved in, and how humans had bred bull terriers to be the way they are, and how this one maybe hadn't been trained as well as it could have been, and I started crying because at the end of the day it's still just a dog being a dog and I didn't want it to die. Fortunately I still see the dog around sometimes, and they did the right thing and just put a muzzle on it. I don't know why I'm posting this really but the dog in the OP is a Staffordshire bull terrier (bit different) and it just reminded me of this kind of crazy thing which happened to me this year, and made me wonder even more how the cunt in the OP can be so heartless to a seemingly really friendly loving dog.
Man this is fucked, I live in Stoke and theres tonnes of Staffies around here. They're the nicest fucking dogs I don't know why you'd ever do this.
I'll put forth that it might just be ignorance on part of the owner, call me optimistic but maybe the owner didn't realise just how easy it would be to call the RSPCA or some other institution and get the dog taken into care. Based on the rescue photo the dog wasn't mistreated, it looks neither wounded nor malnourished so imma apply Hanlon's razor and suggest that the owner really didn't know of a better way to get rid of a dog than just letting it go by the side of the road and hoping for the best. Also taking the fact they actually left it with a bed as opposed to tying it by a leash to a lamp-post somewhere means that they did still have some shred of feeling for the dog. Not to justify what they did or anything but I really really wish that this world isn't the nasty place people make it out to be and that this is just a case of someone making a misinformed error in judgement that thanks to what is basically a Christmas miracle, ended up not having a sad ending.
This is proof some people are pure hate. Sure, its just a dog. A living animal that only knows you for its entire life. Who depends on you for everything. Who only knows to care for you. It doesnt understand why you left it, it thinks you probably made a mistake. They're part of your life for a short time. But you are their whole lives. I fucking, truly and 100% hate people like this.
Yeah I guess, this is definitely one of the milder ways an abandonment could go. A lot of areas here are really rough and there's a lot of low income housing (i.e terraced houses for miles) and one scenario I can see is either A) landlord found out about the dog and threatened eviction and they simply could not find another option in time or B) they were evicted for X Y Z reason and the new landlord would not allow pets and so would face homelessness over christmas/winter if they couldn't get rid of the dog. Could be anything else of course, this is mere speculation.
scum of the fucken earth
Indeed, unless we knew the owner beforehand we'll never know the full story but as it stands all we can do is speculate. Based purely on the fact that the dog does not appear to be actively abused I'd like to think that this broke the heart of the abandoner and that their hand was forced (that being said I never want to see a person put into a position where they are forced to abandon a dog they loved and had the means to care for but that's another discussion) By default humans are not cruel creatures and thus I'm thankful for the fact that only unusual circumstances tend to cause animal cruelty like this, be it very sudden social or financial situations or genuine mental health issues.
poor sweet pup
My main experience with staffies has been multiple occasions of them trying to maul my own dog, not too fond of them honestly. They're usually owned by shitheads who want scary dogs so this story doesn't surprise me at all.
On the contrary, I do blame people for getting rid of their pet. While there are definitely cases that are understable, 90% of them seem to be either "He chews the furniture" (okay, it's a fucking dog) or "He got too big" (well yeah no shit, it's a living creature, they live and grow) or some other bullshit excuse
Any chances these people being identified and put on a ban for ever owning a pet again?
While this wasn't the best way to do this, and it would have been better to try and find some way to put it up for adoption, jesus fucking christ this thread is insane. Some of you are acting like this guy is worse than hitler for this. I get the love for pets but we have no idea what the guy's life situation is. For all we know he DID try to find a shelter for it, but all of them were at or over capacity and because of this guys life situation, whether it be moving somewhere where pets weren't allowed or simply not being able to afford the dog anymore, he had to let it go and it's a hell of a lot better choice than just killing it. It probably killed the guy to do that considering how well kept the dog was, it sure as hell would have killed me if that dog was my pet, but he had to do it because sometimes life doesn't always line up with the best outcomes. That doesn't make him "pure evil" or the "scum of the earth", that makes him human. If it turned out this guy did this literally just because he shat on the porch or something, I'd be right up with you guys because that's a terrible reason to just abandon a dog, but we don't know and to just assume the worst is overreacting. Calm down.
I grew up with a dog who was rescued from being abandoned on the streets, she had trust issues throughout her life with unfamiliar men and would sometimes lose her shit when left alone. Even if you don't care about the permanent effect it will have on the dog, leaving them to wander the streets distressed is a danger to other people as well. You have no way of knowing how they will react when they realise their owner is gone and a stranger approaches them, or if they'll run across a road and cause a car accident. And even if none of that happens, ultimately someone else is going to have to come in and deal with the situation you've created. I know people can get OTT rabid about animal abuse, and it's true that we don't know the guy's situation, but I also don't think what he did can be handwaved so easily. When you get a pet you take on a responsibility to it, and I don't think anything justifies abusing the pet, causing potential harm to others, and committing a criminal offence by abandoning it.
Right, so when we struggle to care for our child, we should just go abandon it on the side of the street rather than putting it up for adoption? Because that is exactly how the majority of people view their pets. They are dependent on their owners and largely cannot take adequate care of themselves if left completely to their own devices. So abandoning them is completely unacceptable from every perspective here.
I'm going to go ahead and say it and embrace the boxes, but people too often put the lives of animals over humans when this kind of news comes out. My significant other is the same way. She would rather donate to an animal shelter than a homeless shelter.
You underestimate how smart and important dogs are.
They are not equivalent to humans.
