When I heard about it I thought it could be pretty neat then I saw the trailer and immediately lost all hope.
Excuse me was that a stock explosion overlayed on the actual footage at roughly 1:06 https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/110521/7f689b62-e1a5-49d1-adda-6a1f879e0c1e/image.png
its either this or a movie celebrating dick cheney
This was An awful idea no one wanted. No wonder it bombed.
Remember that time Will Farrell was in a film WITHOUT John Reilly?
I am probably gonna see this, but certainly not in cinemas. I might be a sucker for Sherlock movies. I loved the RDJ ones and I like the benadryl cumbatches TV ones too, even though season 4 was kind of a reach. This has a trailer that completely sucks though... How can they be viewed as "legendary detectives" when they aren't going to do anything legendary and only foil their own plans badly?
Lol apparently the film was shot in 2016 and they spent two years trying to edit it after test screenings came back shit. Also they didn't screen it for critics at all, just plopped it out
The youtube ads were annoying enough to make me never wanna watch this.
I saw it. It's as horrible as you'd think. Most people won't enjoy it. But heck if I didn't laugh the entire time.
What, you mean the one that just has 2 of them shouting and absolutely nothing else, because ad agencies know that it'll get your attention and stick in your mind more than anything else, even if the end effect will be the person hating it and actively avoiding it? But they do it anyway because enough people who watch the ads are mindless fucking morons that clap their hands at loud noises, and they have no issue with being bottom of the barrel trash appealing to bottom of the barrel trash people? Is it that one?
"A bit of a reach" is generous. I seemed to be one of few people who would defend season 3, but season 4 felt like a parody of Sherlock.
The ad I saw featured lots of pointless yelling. Glad to skip this one.
Portraying two of the most brilliant minds in detective novel history by two of the biggest idiots* in Hollywood. What could possibly go wrong? *as in the typically portray idiots, this would be like asking Jim Carrey to portray Einstein, with all of Jim's mannerisms.
The latter. The reason "so bad it's good" movies are worth watching is because they're unintentionally funny. This movie tries to be funny and fails, making it just annoying to watch.
That trailer was bad but damned if "We've got a REAL doctor..." "Would you like some heroin?"didn't make me snort.
I like a lot of Ferrell's work, but when the trailer was focused on his past films as much as it was the new movie, I had a feeling something was very wrong.
Looks hilarious, worth watching ar home most like, you have to have a good sense of humour.
Seems like this really should've had more historical jokes related to the setting and less shitty slapstick.
I called it as soon as I saw the trailer.
A bad comedy is almost never so bad it's good. Bad comedy only hurts.
I've been seeing ads for this and Idk who the target audience is?
It worked for Step Brothers. But them being man children was kinda the point.
I love how instead of any real title card or producers or any of that shit it just says “HOLMES AND WATSON OFFICIAL TRAILER” in Default Font 4 or whatever. That was a special kind of awful.
This is like submitting homework and hoping the teacher doesn't grade it.
I could tell it would be terrible the second I saw Will Ferrell in a Sherlock Holmes film. This was never going to go well. Please stop shitting on the legacy of Sherlock Holmes.
It would probably be alright if they didn't do the accents. Just think of it as a feature length SNL skit
I'd just like to point out that one of the people who gave this a fresh review thought it was better than Into the Spider-Verse.
That was one of them, there was another but it didn't even stick in my mind
this is the first time ive ever heard of this movie and somehow i knew that sony produced it before reading the article
