Beirut (Reuters) - The Syrian army deployed forces near Manbij in northern Syria on Friday, a war monitor and a U.S. official said, after the Kurdish YPG militia urged Damascus to protect the town, where U.S. forces operate, from the threat of a Turkish offensive.
We still have a military base in that town? That must be a real awkward place to be deployed right now. I bet both sides have that marked on their maps as a "do not fucking go here" zone
Actually US troops have not left Syria yet at all. I think they might have stopped patrols and manning the border observation posts with Turkey, but beyond that they're still in Syria and haven't actually left yet. Another thing on the list of this massive blunder Trump's making in Syria.
A Syrian, a Kurd and an American are sitting in an outpost...
If they hand over Manbij( question is will Turkey-FSA start offensive before the hand over to Assad or not), YPG will once again show itself as a total farce.
FFS if Trump's idiotic "Troop Pullout" drags us into a conflict with Turkey...
100% won't happen. However, it'll strengthen Assad a lot, since the Kurds would rather give up territory to him than to Turkey.
any firefights with turkey are very unlikely to lead to larger conflicts. Turkey is very antagonistic but not stupid, they exist by playing off the dynamic between the east and west
Trump is too in love with Erdoğan, even if Turkey's military kills US soldiers.
