Good. Islam was never meant to be as radical as it is today, and it's only because of the rise of fundamentalist Wahabism and Salafism in the Gulf States and Iran that it's a problem. Anything we can do to curb their influence will benefit the entire world.
Are we gonna curb weapon producers funding from Gulf states as well?
Do not curb it... Outright outlaw it! The mosques which are funded by these Wahhabi shitheads are a breeding ground for Islamic fundies, who are more then willing to kill Christians, Jews, and other religious sects for not following their beliefs. Letting the funding to continue will only lead to more terrorist attacks down the road, and will create greater cultural divisions within the country. We have already seen what Turkey does with their mosques and political rally groups, why should it be allowed to happen?
You know we still have a little something called religious freedom, so please specify which ones you want to be outlawed.
I'm stating outlaw out-of-country funding for these mosques which are usually used as areas to radicalize local populations of muslims.
On what criteria do you want to chose which mosques can be defined as "radicalizing local populations of muslims" ? Which mosques would fit these?
Instead of choosing different mosques, wouldn't it just be safer to make a blanket ban of foreign funding?
Bo. On what grounds?
Because foreign funding is bad news all around? The Saudis were actually exploiting refugees from Syria by funding mosques in Germany and Austria that actively taught their brand of Islam which is inherently evil. Many of those refugees were being radicalized and then sent to training camps in Turkey/Syria that were hosted by groups like HTS, Al-Qaeda, and otherwise. It's like how Eastern Orthodox churches are p.much controlled by the Russian government, and all of their decisions tend to be influenced by the Russian patriarchs.
How much money do other religious organizations receive from foreign countries? How much money do our churches spend in foreign countries? My point is that you can not simply ban "foreign funding of churches" First of all it is not an easy task because "being foreign" bears no grounds for a ban. Secondly if we would do it we would have no grounds to argue when other countries ban our funding for foreign religious organisation, a lot of them being carriers for medical aid, schools and anti-repressive measures.
"Being foreign" is absolutely grounds for banning funding of an organization. Other countries can influence what's going inside your country because of their funding. Do you really want Russian companies funding US subsidiaries to build election machines after the recent couple of elections?
I am no law expert but I am pretty sure that "being foreign" is no grounds. I don't have a clue about how it is in the US but here in Germany, legal and law procedures are a bit more complicated than " it is foreign".
On the grounds of did you even bother to read the OP's article??
What do you mean by this? What are other "Gulf states" ? How are we gonna deal with other countries banning German funding of institutions citing this as hypocisy?
