The North’s leader “expressed a strong determination to visit Seoul while watching [the] future situation”, Moon’s spokesman Kim Eui-kyeom told reporters.

Kim Jong-un also “expressed an intention to meet with Moon frequently in 2019” to pursue peace and “solve the issue of denuclearising the peninsula together”, the spokesman said.

Moon welcomed the latest message, saying the North’s leader had also expressed “active intention to carry out agreements” made in his previous summits with the US and the South, without elaborating further.

Thing is I have to really doubt this because Kim's not stupid. The nukes he has in his position are the biggest keys to his kingdom he has. If the west tries anything he can threaten nuclear action. If his own people rise up, nuke the people as retaliation on the way out. The nuclear weapons he has are one of the best ways for him to hold power in an increasingly hostile world, and he'll cling on to them as long as possible. Perhaps he might stop making more and dismantle the facilities used to make more, but he's still going to keep a few in his pocket, because there is no way he's going to put 20 years worth of sanctions and 3.5 million deaths to waste.

This might be the cynical side of me coming through but, something tells me this isn't just about, oh make the world a better place, there's something we don't know about why he's doing this and I don't believe it's what I said alone.
