I am surprised that metal gear survive is #10 and not higher on the list like #3 or so. Also forgot that even came out this year, thought it was last year.
#5 was a masterpiece, what the fuck is wrong with him?
#5 is so bad I wouldn't even qualify it as a game.
"Bad Rats"-esque situation detected: bad game is ironically defended as a masterpiece as part of either an in-joke or a popular meme. Joke acknowledged and dissected, and therefore neutralized.
Tired meme over. Remainder of thread may now commence.
echo
"Are we done here?"
While no one asked for it and it should not exist its atleast functional and somewhat entertaining unlike most of the other stuff in the list
I find #8 Extinction hilarious because the franchise it straight up rips off from already has two amazing games under their belt, plus years of overwhelming the global market and this game could not get it right. Bland character models, terrible enemies, and combat so horrible it's like playing with your drunk Irish uncle.
i feel like Radical heights should have been there
maybe as 3rd spot double feature
WELL DO I HAVE THE NEWS FOR YOU
I can't tell if this is sarcasm or not
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cY-JkAYa5zk
Its not sarcasm
i do think its just as bad and pathetic as Culling 2
No, I meant, he includes few clips of him playing Radical heights in between the Culling clips. Specifically when he starts talking about how pathethic and desperate cash grab Culling 2 was
OH
games are so similar i couldn't even tell
It's really kind of amazing, I didn't think it was possible for a game trend to stagnate as fast as MOBA did, but battle royale outdid it by years.

Judging by the animations and how everything moves it seems like an incredibly stale fighting game at best and dumb gimmick also at best
I'm so confused, this isn't an official video is it? Why on Earth would they put negative reviews in a video to promote it?
I know this might sound a bit of a strange take on the topic but, I have something to say about #10 Metal Gear Survive:
Did anyone else feel that the game got a little bit too much hate for no necessary reason? Like the way how people were saying "What? Metal Gear is turning into a zombie game?", the controversy between Hideo Kojima and Konami, how it seemed like Konami had fired him just to release this game, and the whole lot of misinforming gameplay videos made that seemed like the reviewers had no idea how to play the game nor survival RPGs (even Jim complains about basic survival RPG mechanics)? I completely understand when people were disappointed when the new 'Metal Gear' game was not actually Metal Gear and of course there were a couple of worrying aspects (like the purchasable saves), but the game isn't insanely horrible. It's bearable, its just a really strange and poorly released spin-off game of a series whose company at the time was getting a lot of hate over a controversial decision they made.
Call me crazy but am I the only person who thinks this?
The Quiet Man seemed more concerned with making art than making something good.
They shat it out a few months after they shitcanned kojima and it turned a single player story focused stealth game into a survival zombie blah blah. I mean under konami there was a whole third chapter of the game that was missing and a half baked second chapter. Konami actively fisted MGS five and then they turn around and plop out that dick twistingly average metal gear survive? Of course it's going to be met with incredible disdain.
Konami seems like the type of people who when they don't like something, they have to ruin the fun for everyone else instead of just leaving it alone.
imo that's a shitty metric for a list about games, not publishers. i hate to pull the "he went in wanting to hate it!!" card but most of his criticisms of the game itself are frankly total garbage. the game is competent and the people behind it (many of whom worked on TPP as i recall) did a good job despite pretty clearly knowing they got handed a bum deal. it just makes me angry at Konami for sending some decent developers on a fool's errand like this, maybe angrier than if the game was just complete trash.
This is so hard to watch, he sounds like a man baby
Why hello, Link Summoning.
Jim just hams it up for those gamer clicks. Metal gear survive isn't completely unserviceable put it's a painfully average survival game with shitty monetezation that wouldn't even have been noticed if it weren't for the brand association of something as prestigious as metal gear especially given the news around the time.
It's not the worst thing on earth and honestly there are other games that should be on this list but Jim hasn't beaten the konami horse in a while so he had to drag that half decomposed carcass out of the garage one more time before the year ends.
I can't remember who it was, and I really wish I did, but there was a youtuber I watched who pointed out that he didn't use a character to represent himself and he was generally not as negative as other's on youtube, specifically calling out youtubers who all use the (poorly) edited image of Vault Boy in the thumbnail while complaining about the games industry not being original.
its really not bad, its like Fortnite Save the World but not shit
The main problem with Metal Gear: Survive is that it's a game set up for a grind with a slow drip of content but there's no extra content. It should have been that once you finished the story you begin the multiplayer progression, in reality once you hit the end of the story you've got most of the stuff you can get and then it's a massive grind for a small handful of things.
Jim's opinion on MG:S is the most vapid take you could have on the game and he's been actively fuelling the vitriol he complains about in game communities.
it's also really great how the whole story is about making Survive explicitly non-canon via time travel, and at the end they're like "wew sure glad a wormhole didn't show up over Mother Base and cause a bunch of dumb zombie shit to happen". also the secret bad ending is legitimately super cool.

metal gear survive would be better if it wasn't called metal gear
It is sewing a narrative (within the video) that it appears trash at first but is actually really good if you stick at it.
Interesting technique.
