For real though, It really is a good thing wizards are so technophobic by nature (well, except for the Dursley's father, but he's a weirdo.). The dark wizard who discovered the power of the firearm would be god almighty in the magical kingdom. Remember when Voldermort and Harry were doing the equivalent of a dragon ball z energy clash at the end of the last film? If Voldermort had just pulled out a loaded .45 with his free hand and shot harry in the damn head, he wouldn't have died to a fucking kid.
(Yes, I know the book is different - and better - but this is a thread about the movie adaptations.)
I think it was confirmed that humans would absolutely stomp wizards because magic is pointless against a .50 BMG.
You'd think they'd have shield charms for that sort of thing though, wouldn't you?
Well you can only cast against what you can see or comprehend, right? So unless you could spot the shooter beforehand it'd take some luck to cast a countermeasure.
If JK Rowl ever gets so mad she has Michael Bay direct a 13 Hours style film about an American siege on Hogwarts as an 'anti-war protest film' i'll assume i've died and gone to heaven
They can permanently apply shields to clothing and it'd probably be written to be able to block all physical projectiles
