Shit I forgot that Subnautica actually came out this year, it's been in early access since late 2016 it feels like, but atleast the devs were diligent in actually releasing the thing in one piece and not just another greenlight mess.

They just recently brought him back because they've been imploding. He left on his own a while ago.
Apparently the Escapist went through a Channel Awesome like exodus after they didn't pay members of the Extra Credits team who needed the money for a surgery for their artist a few years back. Can't find anything for why Yahtzee is still on the site. It's apparently been on the rise after the site changed owners, but I would still assume Yahtzee would still be much better off using a patreon and being a Youtube content creator like Jim Sterling.

I'm kinda sad he didn't review Artifact just for the sake of ripping into Valve again, but considering how he described them in HDTF's review, I guess the thought of Valve's changes is just really depressing to him and he doesn't find it as funny to script out by now.
My only guess would be it's an issue of rights to shows. Jim Sterling tried to break away from them basically as soon as that gamergate crap started, but it took quite a time for that to actually happen because the Escapist technically owned the rights to his shows, he had to buy himself out.
Please explain how The Escapist is a rag?
