FacePunch wants to make a "wipeless rust", among other things, here's an idea for how they could go about it.
Wipe Day Event: Evacuation
Wipe Day? Yeah, it's being kept. Listen up
This event occurs the last ~12 - 15 hours before wipe. At the event's conclusion, wipe occurs and a new map is launched.
2 New small structures will be added to the game and will be semi-randomly placed across the island. There should be more than 1 of each on a map.
A Harbor with a kiosk
A Helipad with a kiosk
At the beginning of the event, vending-machines will activate at all the kiosks on the map
The kiosk's will advertise an offer of sanctuary to any player who has learned a certain collection of required blueprints and brings certain high end materials to the kiosk
If a player with the required knowledge brings the required materials, they are given a ticket.
Only one ticket can ever be issued to a given player
Tickets can be looted
During the last hour of event, all kiosks de-activate and wont issue any more tickets
Once the kiosks are de-activated indestructible vehicles show up during the last hour, half hour, and 15 minutes before wipe
A Nuclear Submarine appears at some (not all) of the harbors
A heavy armored transport helicopter appears at some (not all) of the helipads
Players must take their tickets to the evac sites and secure a seat on the evac vehicles
There are a limited number of seats on any given vehicle, from as few as 2 seats to as many as 5
players must stand in a designated spot for 7 seconds with a ticket in their inventory to be immediately taken up into the evac vehicle
vehicles leave when full or when time runs out.
At the end of the event, wipe happens and a new island (or copy of the same island) is loaded up.
Players who successfully make it into an evac vehicle start the next wipe with:
a half hour head start over everyone else on the server
a unique pre-learned blueprint for... something neat
stacks with another unique blueprint if the player successfully evacs again
is lost if the player fails to evac during the next wipe
and 1 single inventory slot containing something in the player's inventory per extra ticket they are in possession of upon extraction.
And that's pretty much it. For added challenge, all the hostile npc's on the map could migrate towards the evac sites (including bradleys) and maybe like 3 helicopters spawn simultaneously
Basically, this design is aimed at giving Rust an end-game all hell breaks loose raid and rampage style event all while giving rust a "wipeless" solution while keeping it's current feel.
It incorporates the goal of wipeless rust with a possible "multi island" style game play. Certain servers could decrease the number of evac seats available each wipe til only one remains and that player gets a permanent boost of some kind, i dunno.
