Love when he goes the extra mile to change the levels to make them more 'sensible" for him to navigate.
Really liked the callback for "Billy"
I hate doing this but I'm going to have to wait until he finishes the series before watching it
I was just so much more amazing to truly see in "real time" Freemans descent into doom-guy-madness from a perfectly sane, happy person.
The original was just so good and I'd hate to sour it by waiting for each video. But I'm happy that he puts such hard work into them, regardless of how long it takes.
See you in 5 years then
I didn't know you could blow up the transformer like that.
That's custom right? Like with the pipes in the sewer?
Fuck it, worth it tbh
That transformer bit was great, that should've been the puzzle in the original game.
I loved him talking about solving instead of cutting the Gordian Knot seconds before blowing up a puzzle instead of solving it.
That must've been intentional.
I laughed at him still talking/thinking underwater. Did he do that in the original? Feels like a callback to me but I do not remember.
he definitely did, i remember him doing it during the hydro complex sequence in hl1
That water tunnel puzzle skip looked so legitimate that I thought it was an actual mechanic in the game that I forgot about.
Bit longer than 5 years, episode 7 and episode 8 had an almost 10 month long gap between.
yeah, but that's mostly due to difficulties in recording in a building overrun with mold
I want the modded game he's using released as a mod once's he done with the series. It'd be fun to have these small little options when dealing with puzzles.
Alright fair enough, wasn't aware of that.
Still kinda blows me away that the last episode was almost a year ago, I kinda forgot about the series actually. How long was the biggest gap between his episodes when he was doing it in HL1 ?
I legit stopped the video and spend a minute trying to remember that part of the game.
I wonder how long it's going to take until he realises the supply crates have supplies
I legit forget how to do that puzzle every time I play, what's the normal solution again?
Or read the tag on the supply crates that says "SUPPLY".
And wonder what he'll do to the guy in the following map (or was it second map) who yells "Hey down there! Supplies!", before throwing down a couple supply crates.
Destroy the underwater boards so the boxes float to the surface. Then jump on them to cross.
Oh wait I knew that one, I was talking about the electric cargo crate puzzle
There's a random-ass valve at the bottom of those pipes at the beginning of the episode. Fills the water up so you can get through the pipe, but not enough to just swim over the gap like in this episode. That's where the boxes come in.
I'm dumb. You just walk through it and don't touch the walls.
Probably take the supplies from the crates that break, say thanks and continue to ignore the crates
The only part about this that isn't realistic is FM Gordon thanking someone

Yeah the episodes used come up like once every 2 month on average back in HL1 times. That because these aren't just some realtime recording. Ross does write scripts, record multiple takes and even additional sound editing. That map/sequence editing is a new HL2 thing. There were also larger than usual time gaps between episodes. These were usually caused by real life problems which he seemed to be a magnet for. He even had legal trouble with Machinima which caused a stop for like 9 months.
Ross can be very fast too. The last few episodes were released like 2-3 a month, because he wanted to finish the series and fully focused on the project. He said on his webpage that he was glad to have it finished and that it took all his spare time for like 1-2 months to do so.
Freemans mind 2 was started about 2 years ago after a break of about 2,5 years. He announced that there wouldn't be a Freemans mind 2 any time soon after the end of the first one, because "HE HAS TO MAKE THE MOVIE" as he said. As far as I know he is actually still working on it and no one really knows what his movie will be about.
