https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/alexandria-ocasio-cortez-calls-president-trump-a-racist-in-60-minutes-interview-2019-01-06/ In a 60 Minutes interview that touched on a number of subjects,Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said there's "no question" President Trump is racist. The comment came after correspondent Anderson Cooper asked Ocasio-Cortez, "Do you believe President Trump is a racist?" "Yeah. Yeah. No question," Ocasio-Cortez replied. The rookie congresswoman cited the president's rhetoric as proof. The full interview is linked in the article.
I like how straightforward Cortez is. She's a smart woman, doesn't beat around the bush or indulge in bullshit. And I think she manages to articulate, without being unreasonable or hyperbolic, the anger and frustration many Americans feel at having such a degenerate of a President ruining the country.
That's because she comes from a lot closer to the average person than almost every politician.
Good on her for being upfront. I can feel the angry tweet of a response being typed as we speak.
"But he's speaking his Mind!" "What if his mind is a racist mind?" "HE'S SPEAKING HIS MIND"
You joke but this is literally what a number of people are doing towards her and the other Congresswoman whose name I forget that stated "we're going to impeach the motherfucker!" It's okay to speak your mind. UNLESS it's a view that opposes theirs.
What nicknames are we going to expect? I feel ‘airhead’ is too blasé now—the Republican Rhetoric machine has been beating it to death.
I mean I’m waiting for them to just straight out deny she’s a citizen or some dumb shit like that, similar to how they treated Obama. “With a name like Cortez, how could she possibly be a real American?”
Yeah they will think of something. There was a golden period for the first few months of the Mueller probe where they didn't really know what to say, but eventually they decided he was a biased Democrat or whatever. At the moment they are just using the fairly weak "uhh she doesn't know what she's talking about lol" but they will make something more substantial up eventually, birtherism or otherwise
I've seen "Red Cortez" on far-right Reddit a couple times.
YouTube as well, it hits two outrage buttons by both red baiting and reminding people she's Hispanic.
