GitHub: free users have unlimited private repositories, limit to 3 collaborators

New year, new GitHub
GitHub Free now includes unlimited private repositories. For the first time, developers can use GitHub for their private projects with up to three collaborators per repository for free. Many developers want to use private repos to apply for a job, work on a side project, or try something out in private before releasing it publicly. Starting today, those scenarios, and many more, are possible on GitHub at no cost. Public repositories are still free (of course—no changes there) and include unlimited collaborators.
GitHub Enterprise is the new unified product for Enterprise Cloud (formerly GitHub Business Cloud) and Enterprise Server (formerly GitHub Enterprise). Organizations that want the flexibility to use GitHub in a cloud or self-hosted configuration can now access both at one per-seat price. And with GitHub Connect, these products can be securely linked, providing a hybrid option so developers can work seamlessly across both environments.
The Enterprise pricing plan also includes a slight price reduction from the previous plan!
Good to know when my student pro access runs out I won't be locked out of my repos without forking over cash
"GitHub will become shit under Microsoft's ownership"
I mean, it was understandable, considering that other companies like Skype have gone to complete shit after Microsoft bought them.
One Star in a sea of doody does not an epic zinger make.
GitHub has added some awesome new features in the past few months, such as PR Suggestions, they've been doing some really cool stuff lately.
Skype has been just fine for me, how exactly is it shit?
This happened to me a couple of months ago, so I've been paying for Pro for the last few months.
Saving a couple quid every month ain't much but it's handy
Its always been a mixed bag though, some have thrived under Microsoft while others were lobotomized until they were eventually put down.
Fantastic! I never liked that I had to pay to make my repositories private.
The alternative is use another git platform, which is free. Just because github is the biggest does not make it the best
Damn that's very niceeeee. I was just thinking about subscribing too. Glad I waited.
"We are offering a service that our competitors had for years, Microsoft not scary, please stay and maybe buy our enterprise plan" - Github
Yeah no, that they didn't drive Github into the ground yet doesn't mean shit.
I noticed it was mostly linux users complaining tbh.
but don't they all
I would argue this is a consequence of the rise of other alternatives who did offer free private repositories that became more famous after MS bought GH.
So now I can host my app programmed in C# with data stored in SQL server on Azure using github as version control and program it with Visual Studio (Code). All done on Windows of course!
