Hello, I am looking to buy Rust on steam to play with my friends. Will my Mac be able to run Rust and will I need to turn down the graphical settings on it for it to work?
Specs:
Processor: 3.2 GHz Intel Core i5
Memory: 8 GB 1867 MHz DDR3
Graphics: AMD Radeon R9 M380 2048 MB
Thanks.

You barely meet the minimum requirements. It should work but I don't think you're going to have a very smooth experience and you will be running on low graphics settings, especially since Rust suffers somewhat-unique problems with performance overhead in practice due to the player building aspect.
Just make sure to close all programs and run rust. I think you will have to wait a lot for the loading. If you have SSD it will improve loading speed
An SSD is nearly essential for the most optimal Rust performance. With an HDD I encountered random stuttering and frame drops. The first 5 minutes of the game after spawn was almost unplayable and the loading times exceeded 30 minutes on some servers. Even if you just get a small SSD just for Rust, the game will just be playable on your system. It still won't be a good experience because that GPU will be a bottleneck to the rest of the system, resulting in horrible framerates. If you really wanna play the game, get a thunderbolt external GPU dock and put an RX 560 in it, then get the SSD. Or just get a decent gaming PC.
