Will this finally be the year that I upgrade from my 2500k to a Ryzen. That is the question.
Was already planning to get ryzen 3rd gen but that Radeon 7 is genuinely really tempting.
I'm gonna wait to see reviews but it sure does look promising.
Well it looks like the RTX 2080 is dead in the water, or at least a fight for the higher framerates.
And since we have 8c/16t on just one chiplet in Zen 2, it looks like those leaks might check out.
The hype is real boys.
I'll buy into the Radeon hype when Gamer Nexus or Linus gets a hold of one.
But otherwise a pleasant surprise, I think most of us expected Zen 2 before a new competitive Radeon lineup.
The Radeon VII looks like it could be great, definitely gonna wait out for 3rd party GPUs though, because $700 is pretty damn steep. Could very well be the replacement to my ever aging GTX 970 if it's solid.
I also feel like that price won't be doing it any favors. Yeah, it apparently matches an RTX 2080 for $100 less, but since it doesn't have "MUH RAY TRACING" as a highlight, it may result in people just saving that extra $100 for the graphical gimmick. I'm sure we'll probably see a lot of articles pointing out how the Radeon VII will run worse than the RTX 2080 in games with DXR enabled and the like, so it'll be interesting to see the drama and fanboy battles going on around that.
Still, it's nice to see AMD making some sort of a comeback in the GPU market.
You probably should anyway, it's been a few years since the 2500K started holding AAA games back. The IPC on those things is not pretty at all.
