WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democratic U.S. Representative Tulsi Gabbard said she will run for president in 2020, CNN reported on Friday.
“I have decided to run and will be making a formal announcement within the next week,” the Iraq War veteran said in an interview with CNN that is scheduled to air on Saturday.
No thanks. Between her and Trump it'd be a no-brainer but I'd rather have Sanders, Biden, or Warren in that order.
And nobody was surprised
Warren after Biden? But Biden's way more of a neocon than she is. She's closer to Sanders, policy-wise.
Probably a strategy thing. The right is already pretty strongly against Warren and she isn't without a fair share of dumb things that were entirely pointless to push but ultimately easy to attack. Basically Biden is more likely to win between the two. Warren risks being the next Hillary.
Biden is practically a neocon. Why would you rather run another ancient dude against our current ancient dude in office?
She's cool, I'd vote for her. Way better than Biden or Warren if we can't have Bernie.
Oh I'd definitely vote for her. She seems like a genuinely intelligent person, and as far as I know has no real baggage.
She does defend Assad and excuse use of chemical weapons so that might hamper her somewhat
She'd be better off running on Sanders / Gabbard ticket as his VIP.
She even flew to Syria to meet with Assad personally, pretty weird imo
In addition to what Coldmute said, I like both Biden and Warren and in fact considered not putting them in an order in my post but went through it it regardless. Things could change between now and the primary of course.
This and borrowing Republican rhetoric are major red flags to me and makes me question her judgement.
Wasn't Warren also playing the "oh boy oh gee who will I support!?" game in 2016 before endorsing Hillary?
Honestly I'd prefer Tulsi Gabbard over all them, maybe Sanders too. She checks off a lot of different points- women, minority, veteran, etc, for all the people who actually care about that. Bernie supporters could back her because she was an early supporter of his campaign.
Biden is just another old guard Dem at the end of the day and the DNC will never let Sanders have the nomination as long as they draw breathl
Tulsi does have extremely unorthodox foreign policy for a Democrat and has a more conservative voting record then even Beto I think
How that "extremely" unorthodox when their several "Moderate" Democratic politicians like Chuck Schumer, Joe Manchin and former Democrat-turn-Independent Joe Lieberman almost supporting her views but not from Syria nor Russia and long before 2016 election.
america should either have gone full invasion mode on syria or never gotten involved, arming rebel groups has fucked the place up more than letting it be ever would have.
Her ties to ultra Hindu nationalists and anti Muslim stance made even Trump praise her and she's pro Assad. Iffy as shit.
I don't like her. She had strong anti-LGBT record in the 00's (way worse the Hilary's) and her Syrian apologist tendencies are super dodgy.
She's better then Trump but that the most damningly faint praise there is.
She also openly accused Obama of propping up Islamic State and Al-Qaeda.
I'm skeptical of the claims of islamaphobia though, since she's accused of being pro-Assad and anti-Islam at the same time, and also because she condemned Trump's Muslim bans.
Welp, there goes any semblance of a vote for me.
yes.
Since it has yet to be mentioned yet in this thread, let me also remind you all that she is anti-nuclear to a ridiculous level. Without a doubt she will be the most anti-nuclear candidate in the primary.

What an eejit. I wouldn't vote for her
Tulsi Gabbard is probably the best announced candidate so far. She was one of three Democratic representatives to vote against PayGo. Which is a bill designed to shoot the Progressive movement in the foot. Plus, in the 00’s she was an extreme conservative, but has had a change of heart. I think recent actions should be held more accountable than ideals you previously had but has since retracted and condemned. Do I like her pro Mosadi stance, no I don’t. Imo that’s the worst aspect of her at the moment.
Hmm in Europe it's pretty common for far-right clowns to be pro-assad and also anti-islam, doesn't that combo make sense?
Yeaaaaaah
Pass
Well he's Islamic even though his government is self-described as secular.
she has ties to hindu fascists, used to support gay conversion therapy, very militaristic and anti-islam, defended assad's gas attacks etc
if that's not baggage i don't know what is. vote for bernie
Yesterday she officially apologized her previous stance on LGBT.
