• FBI Opened Inquiry Into Whether Trump Was Secretly Working on Behalf of Russia

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/01/11/us/politics/fbi-trump-russia-inquiry.html I'm still reading through it, but this just dropped and seems huge.
Mueller took over this inquiry when he was appointed special counsel. https://merkoba.nyc3.digitaloceanspaces.com/hbv/hCpgnnfb5.mp4
Throughout this entire investigation, Trump's own worst enemy was himself. The fucking beauty of knowing that Trump's own bizarre actions to convince everybody that he was not under investigation are exactly what broke down the final reservations of investigators to take on such a hugely sensitive issue to begin with, and that each of his attempts thereafter to weaken the investigation only emboldened their efforts.
you're not wrong, but Nixon was also brought down by his huberis, had he just let the house probe on his taxes be he would have gone down as a president that did a lot of great things and also maybe forgot to pay his taxes right.
Trump is essentially confirmed to have been under constant FBI/Mueller surveillance since May 2017
The thing is, a normal person wouldn't do batshit insane shit to please Russia. Anidiot was really their only bet.
The fact we are hearing about this, likely means the investigation was fruitless, or the case is finalized. They wouldn't let a peep out otherwise, I would imagine.
There have been zero leaks from Mueller. Literally every piece of news we ever get is from Trump, his allies, and the lawyers thereof.
It's all I have right now https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/441/a732c7c4-d528-4ae1-a58c-34f74b96f2f4/deepfried_1546191895697.png
Yeah you're right, info is coming from people who have left the agency or close to it.
And Trump's Aides.
I 'spose, then, that Trump really is draining the swamp. Just not quite how he promised on the campaign trail...
Can you really call it secretly working when it's been quite blatant?
the biggest leaks coming directly from the investigation have been the lawyers for the defendants not properly redacting things, which is how we know that manaford was seeking aid from his russian pal and transfering campaign data
I was just going from the article itself >according to former law enforcement officials and others familiar with the investigation. But that's good to know, and pretty crazy. Would you reckon that is some sort of low key whistleblowing or just absolute incompetence?
Hard to tell. There's not enough facts to even properly speculate on that front. Sure, but the article clarifies: “Not only would it be an issue of obstructing an investigation, but the obstruction itself would hurt our ability to figure out what the Russians had done, and that is what would be the threat to national security,” Mr. Baker said in his testimony, portions of which were read to The New York Times.  An F.B.I. spokeswoman and a spokesman for the special counsel’s office both declined to comment. according to the people familiar with the inquiry Lisa Page, a former bureau lawyer, told House investigators in private testimony reviewed by The Times. Agents and senior F.B.I. officials had grown suspicious of Mr. Trump’s ties to Russia during the 2016 campaign but held off on opening an investigation into him, the people said, in part because they were uncertain how to proceed with an inquiry of such sensitivity and magnitude. (This could be the two FBI folks which fox news played up as massively biased and which tainted the whole investigation and the other end of that coin could literally be Andrew McCabe who was only director for 85 days) Going from the article itself, it's clear that zero, zilch, nada of this is coming from the SCO. This is coming from former FBI personnel who wish to remain anonymous (including those who were ousted and were loyal to Trump), excerpts from testimony given before the House Intel Committee in closed-door sessions, people 'familiar with the inquiry' (read: Aides, Lawyers), and completely baseless speculation (by his own admission) from Giuliani.
Additionally, this strongly suggests that the ultimate charge they're building a case for isn't just a criminal conspiracy, fraud, or obstruction of Justice. We are looking at Treason.
That's a little bit of a stretch, imo. It's the first we're hearing about said investigation so it's impossible to say how great a focus it is of the overall effort. I'd imagine it's one avenue, but not the main thing. Mueller's a pragmatist. He'll take what sticks and run with it. Also, it's already been explained that Treason wouldn't stick, because the government being aided has to be classified as an enemy state. Russia hasn't been classified as such since the Cold War. It's acknowledged that Russia is hostile, but it's not officially an enemy. To do so would be to put America on a war footing against it.

Please deepthroat a 12 gauge you fucking abomination of human genetics. God damn how can a person be so mind bogglingly stupid?
I wish I could agree, man, but Trump has an entire web of "normal people" around him who willfully enabled or participated in this Treason to advance their own corrupt ambition, and would have likely gotten away with it if not for being in the orbit of that fuckin' fool.
His response doesn't even faze me anymore. We've been through this song and dance so many times that it's just gotten tiring.
I'd like to say that he's fucking terrified, because he should be, but I honestly don't think he's psychologically capable of understanding just how goddamn catastrophic these revelations are for him. He's a malignant narcissist, and thus incapable of accepting that he can be outsmarted and outmatched. This thread dives into the enormity of this article, and is well worth a read: https://twitter.com/HoarseWisperer/status/1083931796419563520 In short, Mueller has had investigative access to every shred of intelligence, every resource, every toold across every US intelligence agency, AND the intelligence agencies of our Western allies, thanks almost entirely to Obama's final act as President before departing the office -- a little-discussed Executive Order dealing with interdepartmental and allied intelligence sharing. I have always tried to caution that Mueller is just an investigator, not God or a Superhero, but thanks to the merging of the criminal investigation and the counter-intelligence national security probe, he actually came pretty fucking close to true omniscience. Every phone call, email, text message, private messaging app, recorded conversation intercepted by the combined abilities of every Western intelligence agency -- all at his fingertips. When those who were interviewed by Mueller said that "he knew everything," they meant that he knew EVERYTHING.

Thanks, Obama.

Holy hell, what a ride that was.
House Judiciary chairman released a statement. "We have learned from this reporting that, even in the earliest days of the Trump Administration, the President’s behavior was so erratic and so concerning that the FBI felt compelled to do the unprecedented— open a counterintelligence investigation into a sitting President and his possible cooptation by a hostile foreign government.  "There is no reason to doubt the seriousness or professionalism of the FBI, as the President did in reaction to this story.  Indeed, his go-to complaints—about former Director Comey and Secretary Clinton—do nothing to address the incredibly serious nature of these allegations. In the coming weeks, the Judiciary Committee will take steps to better understand both the President’s actions and the FBI’s response to that behavior, and to make certain that these career investigators are protected from President Trump’s increasingly unhinged attacks."
Two of these three tweets are more or less bragging and confirming the obstruction of justice charge(s) against him. It's beautiful and sad to watch.
