Remember government shutdowns could be ended permanently with a bill at any time.
Christ, imagine reading this in the textbooks. Being part of history shouldn't feel this bad.
This shutdown will either be rock bottom for the United States and things improve or the confirmation the US never recovers from Trump.
NOBODY HAS BIGGER SHUTDOWNS THAN ME
But then how would the GOP throw hissy fits and force heavily one-sided 'compromise' that strongarms the rest of the country into following their agenda?
I think you're being very unfair!
A bill that would have to make it through both houses of Congress at least once, and if not across the President's desk, through Congress a second time for an override. And that ain't gonna happen as long as at least one party on Capitol Hill that is more than willing to use shutdowns to get their way has enough pull in either house to stymy the process.
I know its silly but this shutdown nonsense has me constantly thinking to myself, "Oh okay I have to work but the government doesn't"
The government hasn't worked in a long long time
I've got a feeling this shutdown will continue for at least another month.
I'm giving a week or two until riots start happening.
Doubt it. A lot of people didn't even know there was a shutdown until it came up on their Twitter moments.
except there's millions of government workers who aren't getting payed atm. They're gonna keep getting fucking angry.
Not to mention that things are going to start to fall apart and affect non-government workers as well. Airports are already starting to struggle.
the sad part about this is that Fox News caused this shutdown and they're running it 24-7
The FAA in general is, our drive encryption authentication server has been down for three days now. For the people that aren't furloughed, if they've shutdown or restarted their computer they can't do any work because there's no server to authenticate them against and we can't even bypass the encryption without that server.
Someone's bright idea to furlough the Security team is starting to show more and more problems.
We're in uncharted territory now, I bet once air travel grinds to a halt then we'll see some resolution to ending the shutdown.
This will be Trump's legacy. Couldn't even keep the government functioning with his party in power in both chambers because he wants a shiny, ineffective monument to his vanity and to pander to his base's xenophobia.
Doubt it. Americans have been told for their entire life that they're responsible for basically everything that happens to them. Holding the government accountable and taking to the streets to fight against it when it fucks them over isn't really part of the culture there. At least not anymore.
Not to mention it would require some incredible amounts of solidarity to happen so soon. So far it mainly affects federal workers, who are a small minority compared to the rest of the population. You'll have to wait untill it majority affects a large part of the population before something happens.
Lets see how long until the people he's fucking over start flooding the WH in protest. It really seems like he's just trying to do as much damage as possible cause he knows his days are numbered.

Drumpf van der Linde
He lost the popular vote though.
In other words, "I haven't figured my way out of this yet"
Elections have consequences!
Elections have consequences!
Elections have consequences!
Elections have consequences!
Consequences shouldn't involve the American people suffering.
