WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump avoided giving a direct answer when asked if he currently is or has ever worked for Russia after a published report said federal law
enforcement officials were so concerned about his behavior after he fired James Comey from the FBI that they began investigating whether Trump had been working for the U.S.
adversary against American interests.
Trump said it was the “most insulting” question he’d ever been asked. Trump responded to the report Saturday during a telephone interview broadcast on Fox News Channel after
host Jeanine Pirro, who is also a personal friend of the president, asked whether he is currently or has ever worked for Russia.
“I think it’s the most insulting thing I’ve ever been asked,” Trump said. “I think it’s the most insulting article I’ve ever had written, and if you read the article you’ll see that they found
absolutely nothing.” Trump never answered Pirro’s question directly, but went on to say that no president has taken a harder stance against Russia than he has.
“If you ask the folks in Russia, I’ve been tougher on Russia than anybody else, any other ... probably any other president, period, but certainly the last three or four presidents.”
Trump tweeted early Saturday that the report showed that the FBI leadership “opened up an investigation on me, for no reason & with no proof” after he had fired Comey.
Duh. Of course he would.
This guy could give a solipsist a run for his money with the level of magical thinking he has. With him it's literally "if i say it didnt happen, it didnt happen"
they've already done "When the president does it its not illegal"
He could even outright admit it and no one would care.
WHAT ABOUT ALL THE GOOD THINGS HE DID SO WHAT IF HE'S PARTNERED WITH AN ENEMY STATE
"No, of course not."
Why the hell is that so hard to say? Like whatever is happening, even if there is collusion and Trump is getting money indirectly from the Russians because of business interests I doubt that there's a pay slip somewhere from the Government of Russia with "Salary for Donald Trump (President of the United-States of America)". It would still be accurate to say that he's not DIRECTLY working for the Russian government. And even then, why not just lie about it? Is he really that fucking stupid?
It's the stress. He's afraid of blundering in person without even realising it himself, so he just out-right tries to avoid any sort of confrontation because his system just isn't able to take this much pressure. Lying to him isn't lying anymore, it's his own language now, but actually consciously doing it requires concentrated effort.
Uhhh
It'd ridiculous how this man is not only holding office right now, but might get away with a majority of this because of how the US is. He still has his loyal voter-base who will support him to the end no matter what they find. They could find evidence of him murdering people, and his voters would say "They probably deserved it!". It's absolutely shameful the state this country is in, where our president and commander-in-chief is a traitor, unloyal, and is actively HARMING his citizens day by day with the shutdown, and showing dis-interest in an honest office.
I don't care what excuse there is, I don't want just Trump accountable, I want those accountable for the process to do SOMETHING about his actions being so slow to the point it's pointless to go through the effort to dig up all this shit on him. In a perfect world this would be more than sufficient to impeach and charge him, why it is still taking so long and why it's so hush is disgusting. People right now are suffering and will continue to suffer in this shutdown because this president is having a tantrum. Innocent people will lose their homes, and their lives. He is at war with his government and his citizens, he has no right holding office anymore.
Trump said. “I think it’s the most insulting article I’ve ever had written [about me]"
Is what I think he meant. I guess it's hard for him to form full sentences now.
Yeah I hoped that's what he meant, but knowing the level of corruption going on right now, jesus.
Why would he be unwilling to lie about this, specifically? He lies about something else every time he opens his putrid mouth.
because if he slips up and directly or indirectly admits that he did indeed collude with putin, he's dead. Nobody can save him from impeachment then, not even the turtle or the entire gop deciding to put their careers at stake.
I'll take this over him actually being efficient in anything
If this isn't blatant proof that he's in league with Russia, I don't know what is. An innocent man that has nothing to hide would disclose information no problem, but we all know Trump if a fucking coward and certainly not innocent.
Silence isn't an admission of guilt, but it surely means there's more to the story than what we're led to believe.
The 5th amendment exists to prevent self incrimination, being silent about something like this is a smart move, especially for a pathological liar like Donald J. Trump.
Dodging the question like dodging the draft epic style.
Conservatives are really bad at saying "no". I always remember how Rumsfeld couldn't answer if he was a lizard person with a no.
