There's some real bad stuff in here that highlights just how out of touch this guy is. He's no Trump, but he is just a maintanence man for neoliberalism, who's so institutionalised that he can't even see the damage he's causing.
He's supposedly part of the center left party, but here he is claiming that poor people just need to be more "responsible" and that the unemployed can just find a job if they "try hard enough". Despite it being a fact that capitalism always includes some level of unemployment (roughly minimum 3%) due to a fair few factors including lag between market demand and labour market. Imagine a system where unemployment is inevitable but unemployment is also demonised and may lead to destitution and eventually death.
This was announced in december.
We've had two resignations from the people in charge of holding the debate since.
The ruling party has said that every topic would be on the table, but has confirmed that restoration of the income tax would not be considered.
No one in their right mind should expect anything to come out of this. This is 100% deflection from the executive and any proposition that's socially progressive will get astroturfed out of the debate - calling it now
"Let's debate about stuff, minus that one main thing you guys are protesting for."
This guy seems to be unaware that he's hurtling toward Louis XVI status.
Why doesnt he just fucking tax the corporations that caused climate change, if he supposedly cares about what the public wants he could meet this demand immediately.
