https://www.reuters.com/article/us-venezuela-politics-brazil/bolsonaro-is-hitler-venezuelas-maduro-exclaims-amid-brazil-spat-idUSKCN1P82FJ Caracas (Reuters) - Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on Monday called Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro a modern Adolf Hitler, days after Brasilia officially recognized an opposition leader as the legitimate head of the increasingly isolated country.
"You're not wrong, you're just an asshole."
If only he'd go the way of hitler and kill himself off
Does this mean Maduro is Stalin, then?
If only the two of them could be locked in a room together.
Considering all the starvation he's caused I'd say he's more like Mao.
Holomodor.
Dictator Fight!!
Not just yet, we need to get a Mussolini first.
I hate maduro but i hate Bolsonaro even more. I can agree with him on this point, because Bolsonaro is actually acting genuinely Hitler like, with the whole disenfranchisement and persecution of native populations (goodbye villages, hello logging companies), vitriolic attitudes towards those he deems "subhuman" (LGBT+& arguably non-white people), and harsh anti-socialist rhetoric.
you're mousalini, he's hitler and both of you are wrong.
Well if we want a comically incompetent fascist dictator, Trump is a pretty good candidate.

I didn't know calling human beings from different genders, races, ethnic groups and sexuality "people", as they should be (and have been fighting for the past decade) is a "vitriolic attitude" against whom he classifies as "subhumans".
yep nothing vitriolic about saying gay people are the result of not being beaten enough at home. that he would rather have a dead son than a gay one. nothing questionable about the removal of homosexuals from human rights guidelines. nothing dangerous about his comments on black quilombola communities, describing their weight with measurements used for cattle and saying they are "not even fit to breed" the guy praised the torture of the military dictatorship that happened against his political opponents. he is a racist, authoritarian piece of shit and your selective blindness will not change that
Bolsonaro has always been target of character assassination. Here we have someone who has more in common with Hitler calling a legitimately elected president Hitler.
usually, that character assassination comes from himself
I thought we were in 2019 not in 1990s. As I said before to other people: just because he wouldn't like to have a gay son, it doesn't mean that he'd do anything to them. It's a false correlation. The comment about quilombolas and cattle: he was among friends and it wasn't racist. He referred to the manner these people are treated, comparing it to how cattle is treated. If he was racist, the people where he gave this speech (which included some quilombolas afaik) would sue him for being racist. I am talking about the things he's done now. He said a lot of shit in the past, some of which I personally think was absolutely inappropriate, and some which I agree, if you look at one of its interpretations. There's been an uproar in the first days of his administration because A LOT of people said he abolished a part of the human rights ministry that dealt with LGBTQ+ rights, people kept saying this group lost rights, etc. All he did was move the matter into a new part of the ministry called "secretary of global protection" - which deals with ANYTHING related to privation of human rights and it applies to ALL, not specific groups. That's why it's called global. One of the things he said during his presidential speech was that he seeks to unite the brazilians under a single identity. If referring to LGBTQ+ as people (because they are) seems homophonic to you, maybe the homophobic is you. Extrapolating it a bit, to me it means that tour race, gender, sexuality doesn't define your rights - you deserve to have all of them independently of what your color, your sexuality or your gender is. And lastly, I'll leave a link for you to do your own digging. Here's a list of changes he made to the ministries. Leitura Jornal
The sign is just his name.
No because Maduro has been worrying for a while that Brazil will invade Venezuela. Stalin was totally convinced that Germany would not invade, and any suggestion that hitler would violent the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact was false intelligence from Churchill. Imagine the look on his face when Hitler started bombing soviet-occupied Poland haha what a prankster
Olympic level mental gymnastics you're doing flips into the stratosphere with this turning Bolsonaro's blatant bigotry upside-down and pretending he's actually crusading for justice "We're a christian country. God above all. Not this little "secular state" story, no. It's a christian state. We're going to make Brazil for the majorities. The minorities have to bow before the majorities. Minorities can either adapt, or disappear" I will take him on his words, and not your projections
As soon as someone has to tell you what a politician actually means, and it is different from the literal interpretation of his words (and, it turns out, what he actually means) you know you're into bad territory. We've seen this with Trump, and we're seeing it with Bolsonaro. "The liberal media is out to smear his character!" by... quoting him verbatim?
Maduro is worried because the change in command, he may actually be forced to pay what Venezuela owns to Brazil.
Don't forget the obligatory "I don't support everything he's said," a phrase only used when someone's said something truly reprehensible by people who will never consider anything too outrageous to handwave.
Whatever floats your boat, man. I don't give a fuck about his personal opinion, if his administration turns out to benefit everyone, it counts.
