Tbh its always very sad to see some of these details like this completely missing from games. it demonstrates a certain lack of care and honestly ends up making the experience a while lot worse off
There are still many cool details at the very least
Another hack fraud video game that does not have working mirrors.
wow i hate resident evil now
of all the games that I've seen with mirrors Vampyr is the one that needed to have non-working mirrors, and not only do the mirrors work but your character model is backwards in them, as well as looking like shit

this is some real 400IQ bullshit right here

Never forget
The beautiful physics/animation interactions that the zombies have is exactly the innovation I wanna see from the industry rn. Can't wait to see what the tech looks like in like 5 years
That's more of an optimization choice than anything. You could always do it, it's just because there's such a big focus on the gore and realism of the zombies that they decided to make the bodies have physics when they died. You can actually do it in Gmod now that I think about it.
It does make such a big difference though when you see it ingame.
How can a game be so next-gen and ass-backwards at the same time?
I'm excited, but a tad bit bummed about not being able to shoot through glass. Figured that would've been obvious to add in.
Why don't people use virtual cameras with 1/4 the resolution and LOD for mirrors? It worked in RAGE games like Max Payne 3 and GTA 5, even on 7th gen consoles
Most modern games use deferred rendering. It's a high up-front cost since it basically renders the scene 5 or so times, but allows you to get many effects for free. Mirrors, however, become prohibitively expensive since you need to do all that rendering twice or more. Most games opt for screen space reflections which have issues like in the Vampyr example above.
Mario 64 had perfect mirrors, why can't you modern games?????

It's actually 100% cheating, however, it's literally just a window to a false room and uses a second mario. There is zero rendering magic here, just a clever fake-out.
I also found this as well

My fucking god :'D
They only would've only needed to add a mirrored room behind the wall that gets culled when not looked at and it would have been perfect.
The devs aren't stupid, they won't allow you to camp inside a room and kill every threat while being completely safe
But it would be better to just remove the glass then
