Don't they understand how incredibly short sighted such statements are? Give it 3 months and their voters will see many more ISIS news pieces surging back. But then again, their base wouldn't even remember a statement that ISIS would've been "defeated".

From experience of my buddy in Navy EOD, he's seen that PMC's are coming in droves to replace US troops. When we withdraw, PMC maintain activity about equal to previous US troops.

Doesn't make the withdrawal from Syria any less of a bad decision however.
