Question on shutting off specific weapons or items? ~ Server

So i've been running a modded server for my son and friends and its been fun learning the commands, now they want to run a primitive style bows only server but I haven't a clue how to prevent other items from being used or researched?

Any help on how to stop those items from spawning and or being researched /used?

You might be aware of other servers who do this very thing. The majority of primitive servers have extensive molding in place, but most of it is just blocking high tier items, or blocking upgrades to metal and armored. This all done with oxide, if your unfamiliar with oxide or how to install it in your server (which is usually a very quick and easy process), you can look it up on the internet, there are many tutorial showing the steps nessecary for the successful installation of oxide. Note, oxide's old website was moved to Umod, but I believe the needed files can still be gathered from the old website, but they might just be on the new site, Umod. I'm not sure.

Now the way you would disable weapons would be through the use of a weapon blocking plugin. You can, if unfamiliar with, search up how to install plugins with oxide (assuming the last tutorial you viewed, if you did, didn't show that). There are a few plugins needed for a typical primitive server. A plugin to block crafting of certain items, a plugin to edit the loot tables of the game, and a plugin to block the upgrading of walls to anything above stone. All of these plugins can be found in Umod, just search the appropriate terms in the search box. Personally, a good loot table editor is BetterLoot. Theres a third party editor that allows easy editing of the loot tables from a website, rather then editing the .json in your data folder in oxide.

Oh, and the entire process is free. Forgive me if I made this wall of text instead of just saying plugins if you already had a perfectly sound knowledge of oxide, umod, plugins, etc.

Oxides original website is down now as of last week. Umod has everything now. It can be tricky to navigate as a novice and most current guides are outdated. You might have to dig a bit.

I run an Oxide modded server, I still have no idea how to block specific weapons?

Plugins. There are plugins on umod.org that allow you to edit loot tables (betterloot), disable crafting of certain items, and also plugins that allow the disabling of using certain items. However you only really need the one that edits loot tables and the one that disables crafting of certain items. You would then simply configure the plugins to your liking.
