Hey so after reaching the 100 hour playtime mark I have to say that I really enjoy Rust and am looking forward for the 200 hour goal. Also I do want to apologize for the following wall of text. However there a few ideas that came to my mind that I just wanted to present here but I will give you some back story first: I am a huge survival game fan especially when it comes to hardcore difficulty so pretty much every idea that will follow soon is based on that. On top of that due to my weak hardware I am only able to play on low populated Servers, mostly Solo/Dou and the ideas are thought to be implemented on such a server and not necessarly on a 250 player server. Here we go: more PvE challenge -> the game gets pretty dull after you reached a certain gear level on a low pop server with not much competition besides a few people. More PvE Challenges, if its roaming groups of scientists or for example a protected transport of various goods that goes from the military tunnels / launch site to a harbor where it is loaded into a ship and gone make the world in general more hostile -> adding different diseases or food diminishing return so for example that after 3 bear steaks the nutrition value goes down so that the fifth piece of meat won't increase health/hunger or thirst at all. This would passively increase the usage of the buildable farms to increase the varierty and amount of food players have to gather in order to life. There is already enough food implemented to enable such a cycle. Also being forced to carry so much food will shrink the inventory space making it harder to gather or farm components. New materials: For example add copper. Copper plays a huge role in todays electrical system and it being stolen by thieves causes a lot of damage for electricity companys. I've had a few more Ideas but sadly I seem to have forgotten them. Will add them later if I remember what they're about. I also know that these changes are huge and probably do not necessarly match the developers intentions but if they won't be implemented offically maybe I achieved toinspire a modder
I'm sure FP mentioned something about fleshing out the PvE side of Rust, not only NPC's also needs and diseases. However, adding more components and/or materials IMO ain't happening soon. Grinding's already tedious, giving us another material to look for and it becomes annoying, plus adding copper requires making recipes for it, and balancing the cost/reward aspect of it. Overall just not needed or wanted really.
Hey, So after reaching my 17801 hours on this game I would like to say I really enjoy Rust and am looking forward to the 18000 hour goal ! I am not a fan of adding even more items to the game there are over 340 items you can collect and some of which you need to survive. The addition of an unweildy electrical component system does not help , nor is the addition of an unpredictable balloon ! . I do however like the cargo ship addon and the ability to using diving equipment, it makes it easier to place foundations in deep water, As i play on a modded server and build very large bases with a multitude of doors i dont want to waste a week trying to wire up a 6x8x6 (H) base just so i can have automatic doors, nor do i want to do the same for lights, Eventually of course the game is going to be ruined when "everything" will need to be "wired up" to this bloody electrical system and i do not look forward to that day. As these ideas are for a modded server you should note that there are backpacks available on these servers and higher stacking rates so that there would be no loss in carrying ability,
I thought of one thing. May be should emplement more realistic dark (even in the afternoon), when you are staing in honey comb without any sun light? Like in real. Rust began electricity age, so it'll be push players use devices. Just a suggestion.
The balloon can easily be controlled and electricity is cool
