My server with high pings when it gets 60+ players

Hello all! I need an urgent help. So i have a server and while there are 3-5 players i get 10-15 ping. When it gets higher like 20-30 it gets 40 ping. And after 60 players it gets 200+ ping. I dont understand why and dont know what to do. Using Darkrp mod. Sometimes i get high chokes aswell. Is it about optimisation or single coreish problems?
60 players is a lot
I'd place my bet on the ping going up because the server physically can't send data any faster out to all of the players, because it has so many to process.
I've never even seen a source engine game with that many people in a single server before.
Your tick rate is too high and you have too much net traffic going on. I have a 40 player server where players maintain 10-15 ping if they have good enough connections. You are probably going to have to pay someone who knows what they're doing to optimize your shit.
Yep, its high for everyone when there are many people in it. I dont think we have a bandwith problem, but im curious about CPU too. Its i7, its single core should be good. But i have 15 more game servers at same build so maybe some servers working with it at same core? I dunno i've seen russian servers with 120 players and doing good with it. Thanks for the response!
There is a russian server with 33 rate and 120 players without any problem. They had fake ping? And do you think lowering the tickrate would do any good? I remember i did this from 33 to 16 and had without any difference (server's var increases so much). Optimisation of addons can be the source of the problem too... Thanks for the reply!
We had to pull all our addons from WS and optimize them manually to eliminate useless loops etc on top of going through our gamemode for the same. We’re at 22 tick and everything works pretty well.
DarkRP is a mess code-wise as a consequence of having been maintained for 12 years and most addons for it are the same. Poor performance is taken for granted with DarkRP servers, but the biggest servers optimize.
You have 15 servers at same build?
So you got 15 Servers running on a 4 Core machine?
If they are all gmod servers, yes they definitifly will use your core too.
Lower your tickrate, remove addons not really needed, let someone optimize your sht, check your hardware and you're good to go.
I'm running 4 servers on a 4 core (because gmod takes 1 core..) one core has 4.2ghz (non overclocked) and it runs smooth with 70-80 players.
