How are these two things even remotely related ?
Yeah, I bet you see people spending time with their families instead of watching Netflix as a major competition too, you money-sucking fucknuggets.
People would rather spend time playing fort nite than watch Netflix.
Netflix announce new Netflix Allstars Battle Royale! play from a selection of Netflix original characters such as Eleven, Piper Chapman, Simon Belmont, and Sandra Bullock with a blindfold on!
Or watching Fortnite being played on streaming services
Fortnite live action series coming to netflix starring Adam Sandler
Fortnite Lifeselector interactive series Imagine a "Telltale" series on Netflix were you choose optional paths by episodes like you can find on Youtube, if you ask me that's a goldmine
... Like the new Black mirror episode?
There is literally a Telltale Minecraft game on Netflix
Tree will remember that
Crazy idea, but how about Netflix Fortnite streams?
How would they expect to get people from that audience? I want to play my vidjer games no matter how good some TV show might be, so what could Netflix do to change that? Unless they're looking to directly involve themselves in the video games market, I don't really see what they could do.
They're just analyzing the data and noticing trends and that's what companies do lol
Intersectional competition of media isn't explored often enough, it's interesting that Netflix sees itself as more in competition with games-as-services than with other, much more similar video-as-services. Or maybe this is just massive amounts of hubris, since Netflix has secured itself as a media empire in itself.
This is a problem for traditional media across the board. Not just Netflix. Video games are so much more accessible and immersive than they used to be, so less people are spending time watching television. I don't think that even reflects poorly on television, just that there are more things to do and people only have a finite amount of free time.
how has netflix not done this yet tbh
Consumers view Fortnite as a substitute for Netflix. While they are not both games, they are both entertainment products.
Because they're all part of the Entertainment Industry. In economics any product that can be substituted for another can be classified together in an industry, and the entertainment industry is largely based around what you do with your free time. Time spent playing video games or watching them be played is time not spent watching Netflix shows. There's a very good reason to considering video games a competitor considering that I used to have a lot more free time and would watch Netflix shows as well as play video games, but now that I'm in college I have a lot less free time so I don't really watch Netflix anymore.
I really never got the attraction of watching people play Fortnite. I'm not judging people or getting on my soapbox, I've just never got it really
I... I'm rating this funny, but I'd be down for this.
