I'm not sure how you're going to make a government work with the taliban, they fundamentally oppose a secular government.
Most of the Taliban's strength comes from local militia groups that actively oppose US military presence. If we allowed the Taliban into the government, and removed ourselves from active operations, we'd have a somewhat stable situation. The problem at the moment is whether or not the Taliban's control over the militias will maintain. It's very likely it'll fracture into hardliners wanting a continuation of the war, those who want an end and some reconciliation, and finally having groups that just fuck-off and maintain regional control.
