oh great now keygens are going to get even more annoying
Is a new age of MIDI versions of popular music upon us? Will they all be hosted on Geocities with animated flame gifs and a guestbook?
Good. Midi in its current form is rudimentary. I can understand if you don't know anything about the protocol this seems a bit silly, but it's actually a big deal. I wonder if this will allow fine tuning past the current 0-127 limitations, and allow further use of unused banks.
YES big news!! about damn time
Interested to see how this is implemented
There's a whole shitton of chiptune formats, some of which can sound really cool.
V2M is my favorite, for all the cool distortion effects and whatnot.

The file: http://puu.sh/CyS2x.zip
Midi is not the file format really, that's .mid
All they are really are recordings of MIDI events, as MIDI is still a commonly used standard for sending notes and other information between instruments (or computers)
Finally.
We can upgrade this classic gem:

Nice to see MIDI still kicking.
This is pretty big news for anyone dealing with music production, since MIDI is the standard when it comes to electronic instruments interfacing with a computer.
fuck you mate. Keygen and trainer midi music were the FUCKING jam. They need to bring this back.
Oi mate, you better watch your mouth!
That's HOME - Resonance you absolute synthwave enthusiast.
You watched "The Nostalgia of HOME's Resonance, Explained" didn't you?
The midi piano version of it is for some reason fucking wonderful, thank you.
Yeah, This uses the same mid file that Robert Mieta created, as Mr Amazing used with his video
huh, so that's why it sounded familiar
Where can you find it? I haven't been able to find the actual mid file anywhere, even searching through Mieta's stuff.
If MIDI is so good, why is there no- wait, what?
MIDI is still kicking because it's an industry standard.
Who's the artist and song name of this? Its pretty fucking kickass.

It's from this 64 kilobyte demo: We Have Accidently Borrowed Your Votedisk by Razor 1911
At least I'm already aquainted with non standard midi format and exotic bank formats, whats one more.
MIDI as a file format is like, the least important aspect of midi. Being able to store information is just one piece of the component.
Think of it more as a universal data protocol that instrument companies use to send specific hexadecimal values to and from different midi capable devices like keyboards. The different sounds that are used are universal because of the midi format standard. Drums will always share the same sound bank for example even between companies.
I wish I had a weekend to deep dive into this.
DID SOMEBODY MENTION KEYGEN MUSIC?
Neat
I might as well share some of my favourites.

I mean, it's used by basically every major musician today
Worth remembering that's only because of stuff like General MIDI. Back when MIDI first came out, there was exactly this problem where a program number could mean any instrument between different manufacturers.
