• Rust Servers not showing up
    8 replies, posted
I bought the game like 1 week ago, i really enjoy the game but since the start, when i try to play in 1 server i can stay there without problems, but thats if im lucky and the servers appear, usually thats what i see: https://i.imgur.com/cNk7QMW.jpg 0 Servers everywhere, and if the servers shows up, i have to login in the servers fast (like 30 seconds) or i will get the error "Disconnected: Connection Attempt Failed". If i refresh the servers, this shows 0 servers again... So i cant just watch for a server that i would like to play, i have to pick one fast... Here is the message: https://i.imgur.com/eAK9aD6.jpg Tryed without windows firewall, tryed without antivirus (kaspersky free), reinstalled the game, restarted PC, restarted Steam, opening with admin privileges, opening the game on steam, on the folder, everything, even i tryed run the game without the easyanticheat (Rust.exe) and keep 0 servers up... Hope someone can help me, otherwise i would like facepunch give me a refund of the game, because i just cant play the game and couldnt enjoy it so... i pay 30 bucks for playing whenever i want and having fun with it, not to stay looking the servers and see if they show up or not... Thx in advance.
Try: Add rustclient.exe to your allowed list in your firewall. or: Try running rust from the main directory. If it will not work you can join my server with IP
Already did it, even stopped firewall as i said, not working, and i cant join servers even by IP because i got the message "Disconnected: Connection Attempt Failed".
Open the game and then leave it for 15 minutes before touching it. See if the server list has populated by then. Also make sure you launch Rust from Steam. Running it manually can mess things up in some cases.
Left the game open for 15 minutes as you said and looks like some servers appears, but not to much, my friend was playing and didnt appear. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/402203/ddf0bedd-6029-41e0-858d-a04ab349bb96/image.png After that i pressed Refresh All and all the servers appear again, but as allways, if i dont choose one in like 30 seconds, all disappear again
This may be a problem with your Internet connection. The server list goes a little crazy with pinging servers and flooding your connection with status requests to servers. Waiting for the server list to unfuck itself shows that that's probably the problem. However, there aren't too many things you can do about it. When is the last time you turned your router off and back on?
Restarted the router like 3-4 months ago, but im not sure if this should be the problem, i dont have a big ping most of times, i will show you when all the servers show up: https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/402203/060a465d-89fd-4d2e-b3dd-8b9313074059/image.png I will restart the router as you said turning off and on but i dont think this will work. Anyway in Tuesday i will try playing the game in another computer and see if is something about my coputer or the net (is in the same net).
Routers like being restarted every month or three. It won't usually be a problem, but if you count, your server list is fetching information for 3,600+ servers. Doing something a little crazy like that (not that it's your fault Rust's server list works this way) can stress your Internet connection and with some providers and hardware setups things can get clogged up on the way to your computer. Aside from restarting your router, there's nothing you can do about Internet problems, though. There are drawbacks to how Rust's server browser works when there are thousands of servers to keep track of.
Asked my friend which internet company is he using and his router, he has a model older than mine but same company and same speed (600MB) so maybe is the router, idk. If the problem keep up i just hope facepunch could refund the game cause i just cant play this game, cant enjoy it this way, and i just bought it like 5 days ago...
