We had tornado sirens going off in huntsville, but didn't think it was anything serious. Fucking things go off randomly. I didnt realize it was this bad
This thing looked nuts on velocity https://twitter.com/ChrisJacksonSC/status/1086756019282366464?s=19
Watching the news now and eyewitnesses said it just got dark, the wind picked up and everything just started shaking. Sounds freaking scary.
Is this tornado season or was this aberrational?
Its rather uncommon to have winter tornados
Wait, really? When? I haven't heard any all day
Tornadoes happen all year long in the US. They're less likely in the winter. Usually the winter ones are in the south for a number of reasons. Seems like winter tornadoes are faster, too. https://dsx.weather.com/util/image/w/avg_tornadoes_by_month.jpg?v=at
I'm out towards New Market :v

I cannot speak for alabama, but in Texas/oklahoma area we had an abnormally warm few days. Due to all that warm area hitting the cold front that came down it started a chain reaction of rain/thunderstorms which later turned into a little bit of snow. If there is enough energy or fuel per say it can create a severe storm which can produce tornadoes. I'm assuming this is what happened.
A tornado in Alabama in the middle of January is pretty unusual
