How is this anything to do with a Game ? A Game. Rust does not have character customisation as its alot of work to add and they want it to reflect on the fact you cannot choose how you are born
I'm sure that the amount of work is not a problem. The fact that it is a design the devs don't want is the problem. The devs could do it if they wanted but they don't want to do it. They could make Rust about science fiction and add laser guns and space aliens buy they don't want to.
Character customization has TONS of potential. Facepunch wont do it though. They wont even give us a random character generator and an accept for 90 days button.
it has everything to do with it, infact in the facepunch article you quoted .. it clearly stated the issue in certain cultural areas, which I then extended upon.
Sadly whilst YOU and indeed myself might not consider player gender and "race" an issue , there are MANY MANY people working behind the scenes to make it an issue.
It is clear that the majority of intelligent people cannot understand why it *might* be an issue, because they may not have been subject to environments where it IS an issue.
The same way certain groups insinuate that software "denigrates" black people and the past issues with slavery.... , because software and indeed much of the computer industry use the term "MASTER" & "SLAVE"
